Playwrights Horizons begins accepting entries today, Wednesday, October 9 at 12 Noon, for its popular LIVEforFIVE online lottery for $5 tickets to the World Premiere of THE PATRON SAINT OF SEA MONSTERS, a new play by Blackburn Prize winner Marlane Meyer (The Chemistry of Change and Moe's Lucky Seven for PH; Etta Jenks), directed by two-time Obie Award winner Lisa Peterson (The Chemistry of Change for PH; An Iliad, Slavs!).

The LIVEforFIVE lottery for THE PATRON SAINT OF SEA MONSTERS will be for tickets to the first preview on Friday evening, October 18 at 7:30 PM at Playwrights Horizons' Mainstage Theater (416 West 42nd Street). The production has an Opening Night set for Tuesday, November 12 at 7PM and will play a limited engagement through Sunday, December 1.

A ticketing initiative created in 2007 as part of Playwrights Horizons' Arts Access program, LIVEforFIVE makes a limited number of $5 tickets available for the first preview performance of each Playwrights Horizons production through a lottery via the company's website (www.PlaywrightsHorizons.org).

Details for the LIVEforFIVE lottery are as follows: beginning today at 12 Noon, theatergoers can enter the lottery by filling out an entry form at www.PlaywrightsHorizons.org. Entries will be accepted until Tuesday, October 15 at 12 Noon. Winners of the lottery will be notified via email no later than 3PM on Tuesday, October 15 with instructions on how to book their $5 tickets. Unclaimed tickets will be offered via email to a limited standby list starting at 12 Noon on Wednesday, October 16 on a first-come, first-served basis. One or two tickets may be purchased for $5 each. Up to 40 tickets will be available for Peter Jay Sharp shows via the lottery.

The cast will feature CAndy Buckley (Scandalous, Cabaret, Shockheaded Peter, View of the Dome), Obie Award winner Rob Campbell(Small Tragedy at PH; Translations, The Singing Forest, Him, Mad Forest), Laura Heisler (Kin, Doris to Darlene, People Be Heard at PH;Coram Boy), Haynes Thigpen (Our House at PH; Dead Accounts, Misalliance), Danny Wolohan (Off-Broadway debut) and Jacqueline Wright (LA Weekly Award, Best Actress for Clyt at Home).

Aubrey (Ms. Heisler), a very determined romantic, believes she's met her soul-mate in Calvin (Mr. Campbell), a boozing womanizer. But in this tilted, thoughtful comedy, true love is an even more tangled predicament. Peopled by an assortment of eccentrics, mystics and front porch philosophers, this new play from Marlane Meyer is a sweet polemic, an unexpected love story, and a deliciously cockeyed view of the sustaining - and destructive - power of belief.

THE PATRON SAINT OF SEA MONSTERS reunites Ms. Meyer and Ms. Peterson, who previously collaborated on The Chemistry of Change, a co-production for Playwrights Horizons and The Women's Project in 1998.

The production features scenic design by Rachel Hauck, costume design by Paloma Young, lighting design by Russell Champa and original music and sound design by Darron L West. Production Stage Manager is Marisa Levy.

The performance schedule for THE PATRON SAINT OF SEA MONSTERS will be Tuesdays through Fridays at 7:30 PM, Saturdays at 2 & 7:30 PM and Sundays at 2 & 7PM. There will be special Monday evening performances on November 11 & 25 at 7:30 PM and a special Wednesday matinee performance on November 27 at 2PM.
