Parthenia Viol Consort Presents A Reliquary For William Blake Concert, May 6 At Manhattan's Church Of St. Luke In The Fields

Parthenia, New York's premiere viol consort, will present A Reliquary for William Blake, a concert on Friday, May 6 @ 7:30 PM at The Church of St. Luke in the Fields, 487 Hudson Street in Manhattan and online. The program, the third of Parthenia's 2021-22 NYC Concert Series, will also be webcast. Performers will be Parthenia Viol Consort with Cody Bowers, countertenor.

Cast, Dates & Ticket Information Announced for DREAMING ZENZILE

New York Theatre Workshop and National Black Theatre announced today casting, dates and ticket information for Dreaming Zenzile, based on the life of Miriam Makeba, by Grammy-nominated Vocalist/Composer Somi Kakoma directed by Obie Award winner, NYTW Usual Suspect & former NYTW 2050 Artistic Fellow Lileana Blain-Cruz.

The Civilians 20th Anniversary Gala to Honor Mia Katigbak and Les Waters

The Civilians (Steve Cosson, Artistic Director; Margaret Moll, Managing Director), the award-winning New York-based theater company, will honor actor-manager and co-founder of NAATCO Mia Katigbak and Obie Award-winning director and arts leader Les Waters at The Civilians 20th Anniversary Gala Concert. The event, which takes place on Monday, May 23 at 6:30pm at City Winery (25 11th Ave), will celebrate two decades of creative investigation into the richness and complexity of life.

Jennifer Nugent To Debut New Work At Gibney Center, April 28-30

From April 28-30, Gibney Center will present the world premiere of up against, a new work by acclaimed performer Jennifer Nugent. Through invitation, memory, movement, text, and sound, Nugent's up against emphasizes physical resonance.

Road Less Traveled Productions Hosts Second Annual Ten Minute Play Festival

Road Less Traveled Productions (RLTP) will present its second annual 10-Minute Play Festival on Monday, May 2nd at 7:30pm. Six selected playwrights will world-premiere their ten-minute plays centered around a Star Wars theme.  Originally announced in 2020, RLTP is excited to finally showcase a night of ten-minute plays by area writers.  The evening lineup, curated and led by Michael Doben, will include the following plays:

Hoff-Barthelson Music School Holds Auditions For Its Festival Orchestra

Hoff-Barthelson Music School will hold in-person auditions for the 2022-2023 season of the School's Festival Orchestra on Tuesday, May 10, 7-10 pm; Wednesday, May 18, 7-10 pm; and Friday, May 20, 5-8 pm, at the School, located at 25 School Lane in Scarsdale.

Dance/NYC Opens Coronavirus Dance Relief Fund

 Dance/NYC has announced an open call for proposals for the Coronavirus Dance Relief Fund: New York State Edition. Made possible by the generous support of the New York State Council on the Arts (NYSCA), the purpose of this Fund is to continue Dance/NYC’s existing relief efforts and mitigate the continued impact of the COVID-19 coronavirus outbreak on individual dance makers and small-budget dance making organizations and groups with budgets between $10,000 and $250,000 based in New York State. The Fund will prioritize individual dance makers and small-budget dance making organizations and groups based outside of the New York City metropolitan area and offer unrestricted relief to those that have incurred financial losses due to the spread of COVID-19 and the social restriction measures implemented to contain the disease.

American Lyric Theater to Stage Three New One-Act Operas

American Lyric Theater (ALT) announced today InsightALT: Opera in Eden, a performance featuring three new one-act operas on themes of temptation developed by Resident Artists in the company’s nationally acclaimed Composer Librettist Development Program. ALT’s current Resident Artists (Composers Jasmine Barnes, Johanny Navarro, and Alex Weiser; and Librettists Joshua Banbury, Deborah D.E.E.P. Mouton, and Marcus Yi) were selected from over 200 applicants to join the CLDP this season. Opera in Eden, which is the culminating event of the first year of these artists’ residency, will take place at National Sawdust in Brooklyn on Tuesday, May 17th, 2022 at 7:00pm.
