Small Victories Productions Presents HADRIAN'S WALL at FringeNYC, 8/10-19

Small Victories Productions in association with The New York International Fringe Festival have announced the world premiere production of Dani Vetere's HADRIAN'S WALL, directed by Stephen Cedars. HADRIAN'S WALL will play a limited engagement at Connelly Theater, 220 E 4th Street, New York NY 10009). Performances begin Friday, August 10 and continue through Sunday, August 19.

5 LESBIANS EATING A QUICHE Premieres at FringeNYC, 8/10-16

John Arthur Pinckard, the Tony Award-Winning Producer of Yeast Nation and Clybourne Park, has joined with The New Colony, Chicago's 2011 Broadway In Chicago Emerging Theater Award-recipient, to announce the New York Premiere of the critically-acclaimed 5 LESBIANS EATING A QUICHE. Written by Andrew Hobgood and Evan Linder and directed by Sarah Gitenstein, performances will run August 10 -16 at The New York International Fringe Festival.

PigPen Theatre Co. Presents THE OLD MAN AND THE OLD MOON, 9/26-11/25

Critically acclaimed theater troupe PigPen Theatre Co. celebrates its move to New York City with the October 4 opening of its brand new production, The Old Man and The Old Moon, co-produced by Britt Lafield/BKL Productions and SoHo Playhouse, Inc. at The Gym at Judson (located in the iconic Judson Memorial Church). The only company to win top honors at the New York International Fringe Festival two years in a row (in 2010 for The Nightmare Story and in 2011 for The Mountain Song), PigPen's seven members met as students at Carnegie Mellon University and officially formed the company in 2008. FringeNYC Presents SCARLETT FEVER, 8/14-8/25

SCARLETT FEVER, a pop culture-infused comedy by former New York Magazine blogger Josh Duboff, will receive its world premiere in the 2012 New York International Fringe Festival. Performances begin August 14, 2012 at the Soho Playhouse.

PIECES Box Office Now Open at Cherry Lane Theatre

Revolve Productions will present "PIECES" by Chris Phillips at the 16th New York International Fringe Festival this August. The new play is directed by Brian Zimmer and will be performing at the historic Cherry Lane Theatre in the Village at 38 Commerce Street, NYC.

Sarah Brown's SHOOTING STARS IN JORDAN Plays FringeNYC 8/12-8/22

EMP Theatricals will present SHOOTING STARS IN JORDAN, written & performed by SARAH BROWN & developed by Brown & David Kaye, as part of the 16th Annual New York International Fringe Festival/FringeNYC. The production will be directed by KAREN LYNN CARPENTER.

In New York City, we're fortunate enough to have access to a bevvy of theatre-related events -- many of which are free or low-cost -- to enjoy on the days we can't get to a show. Here are a few that I have hand-picked: the events about which I'm the most excited. These ones get the official BroadwayGirlNYC stamp of approval for the month of August.

The New Colony's 5 LESBIANS EATING A QUICHE Plays Chicago Now thru 8/5; Heads to FringeNYC 8/10

John Arthur Pinckard, the Tony Award-Winning Producer of Clybourne Park,has joined with The New Colony, 2011 Broadway In Chicago Emerging Theater Award-recipient, to announce the acceptance of last summer's critically-acclaimed 5 Lesbians Eating a Quiche, written by Andrew Hobgood and Evan Linder and directed by Sarah Gitenstein, into The New York International Fringe Festival. Chicago audiences will be able to see the re-staging of last summer's hit production at Center on Halsted opening tonight, July 30th with a limited run from August 2nd - August 5th before it heads to FringeNYC.

NYIF Presents MEN TO BE FEARED, 8/10-8/26

One21 Collective is proud to present Men To Be Feared as part of the 16th annual New York International Fringe Festival, August 10-26, 2012. Written by Rebecca Jane Stokes and directed by Sherri Eden Barber, the production will premiere at the Connelly Theater.

Dan Hodapp and Nate Smith Complete TAIL! SPIN! Cast for NYC Fringe

Casting is now complete for the world premiere of TAIL! SPIN!, a 'hilarious and heartbreaking verbatim reenactment of the preposterous sex scandals that brought down Former South Carolina Governor Mark Sanford, Former U.S. Congressman Anthony Wiener of New York, Former U.S. Congressman Mark Foley of Florida, and Former U.S. Senator Larry Craig of Idaho.'

Isaiah Washington and James Murray Jackson, Jr. to Lead UNSPEAKABLE in 8-Week Chicago Engagement

This fall, the New York International Fringe Festival hit Unspeakable - described as 'a dramatic fantasia inspired by the life of comedic icon Richard Pryor' - will come to Chicago on the Royal George Theatre Main Stage, 1641 N. Halsted, in a limited eight-week engagement beginning Tuesday, October 2, 2012. The official opening night performance is Monday, October 8, at 7:30 p.m.

John Feffer's THE PUNDIT Begins 8/11 at FringeNYC

THE PUNDIT, written & performed by JOHN FEFFER, will make its New York debut as part of the 16th Annual New York International Fringe Festival/FringeNYC, after sell-out shows & rave reviews at the Capital Fringe Festival. DOUG KREHBEL directs this thriller about power, politics & punditry.

SLEEPOVER by 17-Year-Old Playwright Debuts at FringeNYC, 8/12

Seventeen-year-old Chelsea native and award-winning playwright Max W. Friedlich will see the World Premiere of his searing drama SleepOver in this year's renowned New York International Fringe Festival. Developed in tandem with New York Theatre Workshopand Stephen Sondheim's Young Playwright's Program, the full-length play dives headlong into the emotional minefield two New York teens face as they explore the boundaries of school pressures, race, class and the challenges of friendship in modern-day New York City.

SIREN'S HEART Opens Off-Broadway on Anniversary of Marilyn Monroe's Death, 8/5

Following two successful Off-Off Broadway runs this past year (2011), SIREN'S HEART - Norma Jean & Marilyn in Purgatory ~ Norma Jean Sings Songs Marilyn Never Sang, will begin performances on Sunday, August 5th at 2pm at Actors Temple Theatre. The producer, ASCOLS, LLC, have set the opening for 7pm, August 5th (that same night), 50 years to the day, that Marilyn Monroe died.

FROM BUSK TILL DAWN Set for FringeNYC, 8/10-26

Tim Intravia presents From Busk Till Dawn: The Life of an NYC Street Performer, as part of the 16th annual New York International Fringe Festival-FringeNYC.

AN EVENING WITH KIRK DOUGLAS to Open at FringeNYC, 8/10

AN EVENING WITH KIRK DOUGLAS, a new play by Katherine Maughan, will have its worldwide premiere as part of the 16th annual New York International Fringe Festival - Fringe NYC - running from August 10-26, 2012.
