STANDBY - THE MUSICAL Runs 9/7-30 as Part of New York International Fringe Festival Encore Series

Alfred Solis and Keith Robinson have announced that STANDBY - The Musical has been extended as part of the 2012 FringeNYC Encore Series, featuring the best shows from the 16th annual New York International Fringe Festival. STANDBY will have five performances: 9/7@7:30PM, 9/14@7:30PM, 9/20@7:30PM, 9/27@7:30PM, 9/29@7:30 PM at The Players Theatre, 115 MacDougal St. New York, NY 10012.

The Ume Group's BUTOH ELECTRA Comes to Irondale Center, Now thru 9/8

Opening the 2012/13 season at Irondale is the magnificent, intense and intelligent Butoh Electra created and performed by the highly acclaimed ensemble, The Ume Group, running tonight, August 29 - September 8. Butoh Electra presents Sophocles' Greek revenge tragedy as the story of a woman whose vibrant inner life is corrupted by the world of walking dead in which she lives.

GAY CAMP Extends Through 9/21 at Players Theatre

Following its sold-out run as part of the 2012 New York International Fringe Festival, Gay Camp will move its production to The Players Theatre for an extension beginning September 21, 2012.

'ELISE MAYFIELD IS SAMUEL CLEMENS' Kicks Off Ruckus Theater's 4th Season Tonight, 8/27

The Ruckus Theater has announced its fourth season in Chicago, following a successful year of performances at The Side Project Theatre in Chicago's Rogers Park neighborhood. Artistic Director Allison Shoemaker and Associate Artistic Director Joshua Davis released today a season of four new plays, and workshops, including two productions penned by Chicago playwright Scott T. Barsotti.

Vital Theatre Company Extends PINKALICIOUS at The Culture Project Through February 2013

Vital Theatre Company has announced the extension of Pinkalicious, The Musical at The Culture Project (formerly Bleecker St Theatre) due to popular demand. Tickets are now on sale through February 24th, 2013. Performances are Saturday and Sunday at 1 pm through September 23rd; beginning September 29th, performances are every Saturday at 1:30 pm and every Sunday at 12 noon.

FringeNYC Encore Series Announced, 9/7-30

Now in its 7th year, the FringeNYC Encore Series gives theatre lovers another chance at seeing some of the most critically acclaimed and most crowd-pleasing shows from the Festival. Beginning September 7th, the FringeNYC Encore Series will present about a dozen works in rotating repertory at SoHo Playhouse and The Huron Club (both located at 15 Vandam Street between 6th Avenue & Varick). Photo Flash: First Look at Mary Bridget Davies in ONE NIGHT WITH JANIS JOPLIN at Arena Stage

Fresh off its acclaimed run at the Cleveland Play House, One Night with Janis Joplin will take D.C. audiences on a musical journey into the life and inspirations of one of rock 'n' roll's greatest legends. The production is led by Cleveland native Mary Bridget Davies, who performs with Joplin's original band Big Brother and the Holding Company, and also features Sabrina Elayne Carten as the Blues Singer who pays homage to the artists that influenced Joplin's incomparable blues-rock blend. Created, written and directed by Randy Johnson, the production is produced in partnership with Cleveland Play House in association with Todd Gershwin and Daniel Chilewich of Premiere Media, with support from The Estate of Janis Joplin and Jeff Jampol of JAM, Inc. One Night with Janis Joplin runs September 28 - November 4, 2012 in the Kreeger Theater. Get a first look at the show in the photos below!

TRICK BOXING Plays Guthrie Theater, Now thru Sept 2

The Guthrie Theater announces the presentation of Trick Boxing by Sossy Mechanics, a fast-paced physical comedy full of rapid-fire dialogue, "Fred-and-Ginger style dancing" and puppetry that The New York Times called "the best show I have seen" when it played at the New York International Fringe Festival in 2010. Trick Boxing premiered to great success at the 2002 Minnesota Fringe Festival, has since played to audiences around the U.S., Canada and the U.K., and will appear in the Guthrie's Dowling Studio from tonight, August 17-September 2, 2012.

ONE NIGHT WITH JANIS JOPLIN Opens 9/28 at Arena Stage

Fresh off its acclaimed run at the Cleveland Play House, where The Plain Dealer called it "a feel-good, fist pumping, must-see concert," One Night with Janis Joplin will take D.C. audiences on a musical journey into the life and inspirations of one of rock 'n' roll's greatest legends.

AMERICAN MIDGET Selected for Fringe Festival Tonight, 8/15

Paula Vogel Award winner, Jonathan Yukich's AMERICAN MIDGET will have its New York City debut this month in the 16th annual New York International Fringe Festival. After critically acclaimed productions in Los Angeles and Amsterdam, this theatrical satire is brought to life by Trembling Stage and will be making its home at the Connelly Theater.

Onalea Gilbertson's BLANCHE Featured at Fringe Festival, Now thru 8/25

BLANCHE: The Bittersweet Life of a Wild Prairie Dame, a theatrical rrchestral song cycle written and performed by Onalea Gilbertson, is set to play select performances at the New York International Fringe Festival from tonight, August 15 through the 25th.

HEROES AND OTHER STRANGERS Comes to Stage Werx, 9/24-25

Direct from New York, award-winning HEROES AND OTHER STRANGERS plays two-night engagement at Stage Werx in San Francisco. Written and performed by Zac Jaffee, the play is directed by Christian Haines and will be performed September 24 & 25 at 8pm at 446 Valencia Street, San Francisco.

The off-beat comedy ALL MY CHILDREN, written and performed by Matt Smith and directed by Bret Fetzer makes its NYC premiere at The New York International Fringe Festival, FringeNYC, a production of The Present Company. ALL MY CHILDREN begins performances tonight, August 14 for a limited engagement through Sunday, August 26.
