Julian Cihi and Diane Phelan to Star in 2g's GALOIS at the 2014 Ice Factory Festival, 7/23-26

Second Generation Productions (2g), a major incubator and producer of Asian American theater, announced today that Julian Cihi (Romeo and Juliet, Classic Stage Company) and Diane Phelan (Bernarda Alba, Lincoln Center) lead the cast of 2g's commissioned musical, Galois, by Sung Rno and Aaron Jones, directed by Victor Maog and produced by Jane Jung. The creative team also includes Music Director J. Oconer Navarro (The Adding Machine), Choreographer Camille A. Brown (tick, tick...BOOM!) and Fight Director Jacob Grigolia-Rosenbaum (Peter and the Starcatcher).

Libertine Idol's COMING: A ROCK MUSICAL OF BIBLICAL PROPORTIONS Set for FringeNYC, 8/8-22

Libertine Idol Productions has announced that COMING: A ROCK MUSICAL OF BIBLICAL PROPORTIONS, an irreverent, darkly comedic view of the Biblical Book of Revelation, with book, lyrics and music by Erik Ransom, direction by Rachel Klein and music direction and arrangement by Charles Czarnecki, will begin performances on August 8 - 22, at Theatre 80 (80 St. Mark's Place), as part of the New York International Fringe Festival. www.comingthemusical.com

THE FIERY SWORD OF JUSTICE Begins 8/9 as Part of FringeNYC

Pill Hill Productions' THE FIERY SWORD OF JUSTICE, a cautionary tale about a high powered Public Relations executive whose compulsive truth telling costs her her job, has been chosen as an official selection of the 18th Annual New York International Fringe Festival - FringeNYC, A Production of The Present Company. Written and performed by Lauren Letellier, performances will run August 8th - 24th at the CSV Abrazo Inferno Gallery at 107 Suffolk St. 2nd floor. Kel Haney directs.

THE SUN EXPERIMENT to Play FringeNYC, 8/13-22

HelikonRep announced today that it will produce the world premiere of THE SUN EXPERIMENT, by NYTW Emerging Playwright of Color CATHERINE YU, at the 18th annual New York International Fringe Festival. Inspired by Shakespeare's Twelfth Nightand named for 20th century philosopher Ludwig Wittgenstein's theory on the rotation of the sun, THE SUN EXPERIMENT will be directed by HelikonRep Artistic Director and Drama League Directing FellowELENA HEYMAN. The play will feature Ben Chase, Lauren Currie Lewis, and Julia Watt.

CTC to Close 25th Anniversary Season with THE AMISH PROJECT, 8/14-24

Chester Theatre Company will complete its 25th Anniversary Season with Jessica Dickey's THE AMISH PROJECT. The production, which runs from August 14th through August 24th at the Chester Town Hall in Chester, MA, will feature CTC favorite Allison McLemore, star of last season's smash hit production of Tryst.

MOSES, THE AUTHOR to Play FringeNYC, 8/8-24

MOSES, THE AUTHOR, a world premiere comedy by Andrew R. Heinze, will be presented as part of the 18th Annual New York International Fringe Festival - FringeNYC, held this year from August 8th - 24th. Directed by Drama Desk Award-winner Amy Wright, MOSES, THE AUTHOR will play five performances at 'Fringe Venue #17,' The Players Theatre (115 MacDougal) - on Sunday, 8/10 at 2:15pm; Wednesday, 8/13 at 9:45pm; Sat, 8/20 at 2pm; Thursday, 8/21 at 9pm; and Saturday, 8/23 at 9:15pm. As one of the largest theatrical events in the world, The New York International Fringe Festival boasts an impressive roster of world premieres yearly. Of them, Los Angeles native Joshua Metzger's new play Sitting Shiva will see its first three dimensional presentation this August. Christopher Scott will direct the 90 minute play. The Broadway and Regional vet cast includes Eddie Boroevich*, Neal Mayer*, and Jeffery Plunkett*. Melinda Buckley's MOTHER Set for FringeNYC, 8/16-23

MB Associates in association with the 18th annual New York International Fringe Festival - FringeNYC presents MOTHER, a new solo play by Broadway performer, choreographer and comedienne Melinda Buckley. The Gravity Partners in association with the 18th Annual New York International Fringe Festival - FringeNYC presents The Picture (of Dorian Gray), a new play adapted from the Oscar Wilde classic by Neal Utterback with original music by Gabriel Gould. Neal Utterback will direct a cast of five, including Jessica Denison, Andrew Kilpatrick, Jamison Monella, Alyssa Newberg, and Phil Oberholzer. The 18th annual New York International Fringe Festival - FringeNYC presents NO ONE ASKED ME, a new play by Kate Ballen, inspired by the true stories of undocumented immigrant NYC high school students. Matthew Newton directs a cast of nine including Octavia Chavez-Richmond, Ashlee Danielle, Gary De Mattei*, Alaina Fragoso, Corneilus Franklin, Jessica Maria Kight, Veda Kumarjiguda, Terra Mackintosh*, and Jihan McKenzie. BWW Exclusive: Julie Atherton and Paul Spicer Talk Onstage Acts!

Julie Atherton and Paul Spicer have a long and varied history with new and contemporary musical theatre, both as individuals and as a pair. Together they co-founded Notes from New York, a concert series designed with the intention of introducing London to new musical theatre and making it cool, and celebrated its 5 year anniversary with a fully staged production of Jason Robert Brown's cult musical The Last 5 Years. They were also the original team behind Taking Notes, a summer course developed to share their skills with aspiring actors. This summer, they continue their mission to inspire a new generation of musical theatre performers with Onstage Acts, a week long enrichment programme in new and contemporary musical theatre featuring masterclasses with casting directors, agents, composers and directors, as well as performers currently working in the West End and beyond. Ahead of the course's launch on August 4th, Julie and Paul shared some of their favourite contemporary musical theatre moments from the careers which made them West End theatre's reigning experts on the subject.

DEPRESSION: THE MUSICAL to Play FringeNYC, 8/10-24

Dancing pills??? A therapist named Joy! And a discovery that, hey, you might be an alcoholic and a lesbian after all! This August, Depression: The Musical, a darkly humorous pop-rock musical about falling apart and putting yourself back together, will get its world premiere as a part of FringeNYC running from 8/10-8/24 at the Flamboyan Theatre at The Clemente Soto Velez Cultural Center (107 Suffolk St.). Presenting the difficult subject of depression in an ultimately uplifting manner, the musical offers an insider's guide to the issues that thousands of people with clinical depression face every day.

LEAH IN VEGAS Set for FringeNYC

Drift In, Act Out will present the world premiere of Leah in Vegas, a new play by Kara Ayn Napolitano, with direction by Kristin Skye Hoffman (WINNER: Outstanding Direction FringeNYC 2012) as part of the 18th annual New York International Fringe Festival - FringeNYC.
