Krannert Center for the Performing Arts will present a free, digitally delivered four-part concert series featuring the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign School of Music’s Jupiter String Quartet.
On Saturday, January 23, 2021 at 7:30pm CST, the Jupiter String Quartet is presented by Austin Chamber Music Center (ACMC) on its new series of virtual events, Chamber Connect: Spring Sessions, in a program entitled Inspiration.
The Jupiter & Jasper String Quartets announce the February 5, 2021 release of a collaborative album on Marquis Classics, produced by Grammy-winner Judith Sherman. This new release features the world premiere recording of Dan Visconti’s Eternal Breath (2011); Felix Mendelssohn’s Octet in E-flat, Op. 20 (1825) & Osvaldo Golijov’s Last Round (1996).

National Endowment for the Arts Chairman Jane Chu has approved more than $80 million in grants as part of the NEA's second major funding announcement for fiscal year 2018. Included in this announcement is an Art Works grant of $60,000 to Flushing Town Hall for performing arts programming. The Art Works category is the NEA's largest funding category and supports projects that focus on the creation of art that meets the highest standards of excellence, public engagement with diverse and excellent art, lifelong learning in the arts, and/or the strengthening of communities through the arts.
City Theatre is thrilled to announce the details of the final production of the 2017-18 season: Nomad Motel by Carla Ching. Originally commissioned as part of South Coast Repertory Theatre's CrossRoads initiative (Marc Masterson, Artistic Director) the play explores a family consumed by California's crippling housing crisis and the life of a "parachute kid," sent to live alone in America while his father remains in Hong Kong. It is directed by LA-based artist Bart DeLorenzo, and will run on the City Theatre Main Stage, May 12-June 3, 2018. Tickets are on sale now.

On Friday, January 26, Flushing Town Hall presents Black String, a Korean group that creates contemporary sounds using ancient instruments. Embracing both traditional Korean music and jazz, Black String explores composed and improvised creations. The group's amplified geomungo (Korean zither), daegeum (bamboo flutes), traditional percussion, and the unpredictable melody of jazz guitar will captivate the audience.
