The best of British theatre comes to the big screen at The Ridgefield Playhouse -National Theatre of London in HD Performances Saint Joan on February 16, Amadeus on February 19 and Hedda Gabler on March 9.

DUSTY, the first authorised new musical charting the life of Dusty Springfield is set to premiere in the UK in 2018. Details of dates, venue and casting are still to be announced.

The Ridgefield Playhouse and Craig's Fine Jewelry Live in HD Series brings a LIVE in HD transmission of National Theatre of London's Saint Joan on Thursday, February 16 at 2 p.m. starring Gemma Arterton is Joan of Arc.  Bernard Shaw's classic play follows the life and trial of a young country girl who declares a bloody mission to drive the English from France. As one of the first Protestants and nationalists, she threatens the very fabric of the feudal society and the Catholic Church across Europe.  

Further casting is today announced for Rosencrantz & Guildenstern are Dead which previews from Saturday 25 February with a press night on Tuesday 7 March.

Donmar Artistic Director Josie Rourke today announced full casting for her revival of Bernard Shaw's Saint Joan. As previously announced, the production will star Gemma Arterton, alongside Matt Bardock, Richard Cant, Hadley Fraser and Elliot Levey.

English Touring Theatre today announces that following its UK tour, Jessica Swale's Olivier Award-winning Nell Gwynn, starring Laura Pitt-Pulford in the title role, returns to Shakespeare's Globe for a two week run from 2 - 13 May 2017. 

Shakespeare's Globe is delighted to announce Emma Rice's 2017 summer season, the Summer of Love, marking the 50th anniversary of the summer of 1967.

The Globe has announced that Emma Rice will be stepping down as Artistic Director in April 2018, two years after her tenure began. In a statement, CEO Neil Constable said: 'Emma's mould-breaking work has brought our theatre new and diverse audiences, won huge creative and critical acclaim, and achieved exceptionally strong box office returns. In breaking the mould, this latest season has generated productive debate concerning the purpose and theatrical practice of the Globe, in relation to the use of sound and lighting technology within our theatre spaces. Following much deliberation and discussion, the Globe Board has concluded that from April 2018, the theatre programming should be structured around 'shared light' productions without designed sound and light rigging, which characterised a large body of The Globe's work prior to Emma's appointment. 

The Evening Standard Theatre Awards, established in 1955, are presented annually for outstanding achievements in London Theatre, and this year's nominations longlist has just been announced. Sponsored by the Evening Standard newspaper, this year's shortlist will be revealed on October 24, and winners on November 13, 2016.

Today English Touring Theatre announced Robert Delamere as its new Chair of the Board.  He begins the role with immediate effect and takes over from Greg Parston who steps down after five years as Chair.

Gary Barlow and Tim Firth's new British musical, THE GIRLS, based on the true story, the film and the award-winning play by Tim Firth, Calendar Girls, will open in London's West End at the Phoenix Theatre, with performances from 28 January 2017.  Tickets are on sale from 12.00noon today, Friday 16 September 2016.  The West End premiere follows sold-out runs at the Grand Theatre Leeds and the Lowry Salford late 2015/early 2016.  In the West End, the producers have made a commitment to there being no 'premium-rated' seats, no booking fees and reduced price previews.
