'AMES' takes place in a post-cyberpunk Cape Town, where humankind has been reduced to a few surviving individuals in small groups, scattered across the desolated landscape. In a storeroom of a laboratory, sheltered from the elements, Amy and Roald try to survive, come to terms with what has happened, and to figure out the answer to the most pertinent question of all: how do they keep their succulents alive?

Pulitzer prize-winning American playwright and actor Sam Shepard's family drama, Curse of the Starving Class, directed by Sylvaine Strike and starring an impressive cast, comes to the Baxter Flipside stage, for a limited season, from 15 to 27 October, at 7.30pm.

Cape Town audiences now have the chance to catch the Fortune Cookie Theatre Company's brand new production of Molière's TARTUFFE, in a translation by Richard Wilbur directed by the award-winning Sylvaine Strike, at the Baxter Flipside for a limited season this April.

After the success of 2015's Barney Simon Season, the UCT Drama Department will once again curate a season of plays from South Africa. The New Works Season sees senior students from the department take on two never-before-seen works by South African playwrights.

CANNIBAL COUNTRY, a new physical theatre drama written and directed by Alex McCarthy, will premiere at the Alexander Bar's Upstairs Theatre this February. The hour-long piece stars Dustin Beck and Amelia Vernede.

To mark the 20th anniversary of the passing of theatre legend Barney Simon, the Baxter Theatre Centre, in association with the National Arts Festival, is proud to revive his hit production BORN IN THE RSA, 30 years after its world premiere.
