SUMMER SHORTS, the annual festival of short plays that Throughline Artists present at 59E59 Theaters, celebrated their 10th season with a party at Fogo de Chão Churrascaria in NYC on August 8, 2016. Scroll down for photos from the party!

Over 70 productions of local and international artists representing six continents - North America, South America, Europe, Australia, Africa and Asia -- will visit the stages of La MaMa during the 2016-17 season, the company's 55th year of presenting world-class experimental music, theater and dance, it has been announced by Mia Yoo, La MaMa's Artistic Director.

Instead he erroneously stumbles upon four different 12 step addiction meetings going on in the church basement that divert his attention, inspire his love life, and creates new friends and life realizations! '12 Steps' both entertains and educates also with light parody, both using the popularity and the mystery of the infamous self help program without mockery, but with clever direction and understanding using humor, gentleness, and ingenuity. The Old Globe presents the world premiere of Steve Martin's new play METEOR SHOWER, an adult comedy, marking his welcome return to the Globe following the great success of Bright Star. It will be directed by Gordon Edelstein in a co-production with Long Wharf Theatre, where Edelstein serves as Artistic Director (and no, he is not related to Barry).

Bergen County Players, the New Jersey Association of Community Theater's "2015 Community Theater of the Year", is proud to announce its 84th consecutive season, running from September 2016 to June 2017. We're so lucky to have the privilege of having the St. Louis Actors' Studio present the Labute New Theater Festival each year. Submissions come from around the country, are whittled down to a few, and then presented in two parts, with each section receiving a full two week run. In addition, there are staged readings of the High School finalists who also submit their new works. While I was unable to attend the first part, I did get a chance to see the second, and was pleased with the results of this years' choices. It was a good mixture of styles and approaches, and it continues to be something our region should be very proud of.

The New York Musical Festival (NYMF), previously known as The New York Musical Theatre Festival, has announced that they have partnered with The ASCAP Foundation, The Mayor's Office of Media and Entertainment (MOME), and SDC Foundation to curate three panel conversations with industry professionals, aimed at providing more insight into the musical development process.

Mile Square Theatre, Hudson County's leading professional theatre, is proud to present the second production of its 2016 season - the world premiere of LONG GONE DADDY, written and performed by MST's playwright-in-residence Joseph Gallo.  Directed by MST artistic director Chris O'Connor, performances begin July 20 and run through August 7 in the company's new venue, located at 1400 Clinton Street in Hoboken.

SOME GIRL(S) opens tomorrow night at the PARK Theatre. The production stars Roxanne Pallett, Carley Stenson, Carolyn Backhouse, Elly Condron and Charles Dorfman. Some Girl(s) is written by iconiclasic American playwright Neil LaBute and is the darkly funny story of Guy (Charles Dorfman) who travels across America to make amends with his four ex-girlfriends.

At the end of a three-day celebration of the Utah Shakespeare Festival's 2016 season and the opening of the new Beverley Taylor Sorenson Center for the Arts Saturday night, the Festival's artistic directors shifted everybody's sights ahead, and drew more applause and excitement, when they announced the plays for the 2017 season.

When I was first approached to direct this play I wasn't sure I wanted to do it. Some Girl(s) has a main character who appears, on first and second reading, to be a prize cock who exhibits a host of unflattering male traits. On the page he was not a likeable man. Add to that the play's simplistic and seemingly undramatic form, basically four two-handers in a row taking place in one hotel room - I didn't respond warmly to it.

The annual Playwrights for a Cause will be Sunday, July 24th at 7:30 pm at the Atlantic Theatre (Linda Gross Theater), 336 West 20th Street, NYC 10011. Founded and curated by Glory Kadigan, Playwrights for a Cause is the annual benefit hosted by Planet Connections Theatre Festivity. This year the event will benefit this important group - New Yorkers Against Gun Violence.
