Brand new monologues by prolific and controversial writer/director Neil LaBute (In the Company of Men, Nurse Betty, The Shape of Things and Reasons to be Pretty) and legendary playwright John Guare (House of Blue Leaves, Six Degrees of Separation) highlight a three-night presentation of new dramatic works at Dixon Place (161A Chrystie Street in Manhattan's Lower East Side).

Silver Spring Stage presents Die! Mommie! Die! by Charles Busch, directed by Michael Sandner and produced by Patty Edwards, a comic melodrama of secrets and murder when a daughter plots to kill her own mother after her father s mysterious death. Die! Mommie! Die! will perform weekends March 5 to March 28.

Amanda Lamb, most recently seen in Sanders Family Christmas at Chaffin's Barn Dinner Theatre, stars as Helen, with Michael Coursey (Fiddler on the Roof and La Traviata in New Orleans) as Tom. Wilhelm Peters (Boiler Room Theatre's Picasso at the Lapin Agile) and Lauren Atkins (Circle Players' Titanic, Nashville Dinner Theatre's Swing) round out the cast. Paul J. Cook (Street Theatre Company's Tuesdays With Morrie) directs.

MCC Theater (Robert LuPone, Bernard Telsey, Artistic Directors; William Cantler, Associate Artistic Director; Blake West, Executive Director) has announced that tickets will go on-sale today, March 3, 2010, at 12:00 p.m. (noon) for the company's third and final production of their 2009-2010 season: Beth Henley's Family Week, directed by Jonathan Demme. Performances of the four person play begin at the Lucille Lortel Theatre (121 Christopher Street, NYC) on April 9 and continue through May 23, 2010. Opening night is set for Monday, April 26 at 7:00 p.m.

Last night, Monday, March 1, MCC Theatre hosted its starry Miscast Gala at The Hammerstein Ballroom. MCC Theatre has announced additions to their all-star line-up for the company's highly anticipated annual gala, to be held next Monday, March 1, 2010 at The Hammerstein Ballroom. American Theater Company (ATC) celebrates its 25th Anniversary with The Silver Project, a year-long festival of 30 world premiere short plays penned by some of the country's leading playwrights. Controversial playwright/filmmaker Neil Labute has a unique talent for crafting works that deliver a solid sucker punch to the gut. I can appreciate that approach, and since I'm always on the lookout for something out of the ordinary, I made it a point to check out the St. Louis Actors' Studio production of THE SHAPE OF THINGS. Director Alec Wild's sharp direction combines with a well cast ensemble to bring this provocative and challenging piece to life at the Gaslight Theater.
