As BroadwayWorld previously reported, On Your Feet! - a new musical based on the life story of seven-time GRAMMY winning international superstar Gloria Estefan and her husband, legendary producer-musician-entrepreneur Emilio Estefan - will have its Pre-Broadway World Premiere in Chicago in Summer 2015 with Broadway In Chicago theater and performance schedule to be announced. It will open on Broadway in Fall 2015 at a Nederlander theatre to be announced. According to a Equity casting notice, the new musical will get a staged reading in New York City later this month, July 21-31. It also notes that creators are seeking actors who are fluent in Spanish to play 'Young Emilio.'

Along with Theatre in the Park, Playmakers Repertory Company and ABC 11, DPAC (Durham Performing Arts Center) has announced the success of our 2014 Triangle Rising Star best actress and best actor winners, English Bernhardt and Matthew Washington, at the sixth annual National High School Musical Theatre Awards held in New York City on Monday, June 30th, 2014. Bernhardt was awarded Best Performance in an Ensemble and Washington was awarded the Spirit of the Jimmy Awards, two of only five awards given out among the fifty-six national finalists.

NEWSIES welcomes back original cast member Capathia Jenkins in the role of 'Medda Larkin'. Jenkins, who originated the role on Broadway, begins performances tonight, July 15 and will remain with the hit musical through its final performance on August 24.

Broadway San Jose, a Nederlander Presentation, welcomes the South Bay premiere of the Tony, Grammy and Olivier Award-winning hit musical JERSEY BOYS, the story of Frankie Valli and The Four Seasons, performing at the Center for the Performing Arts in San Jose for one week only today, July 15 - 20, 2014.

Broadway star and animal advocate Bernadette Peters will visit the NASDAQ MarketSite in Times Square to ring the Closing Bell in honor of Broadway Barks 16 tomorrow, July 11, 2014. Peters will be joined by Tom Viola, Executive Director of Broadway Cares/Equity Fights AIDS, as well as four puppies from Bide-A-Wee, one of Broadway Barks' participating shelters here in New York City at tomorrow's closing of the Nasdaq bell.

BROADWAY BARKS announces their 16th annual star-studded dog and cat adoption event featuring celebrities from the hottest shows on Broadway to benefit New York City animal shelters and adoption agencies. Founded by Mary Tyler Moore and Bernadette Peters, the event, produced by Broadway Cares/Equity Fights AIDS will take place on Saturday, July 12 in Shubert Alley (located between 44th and 45th Streets, between Broadway and Eighth Avenue). The festivities begin at 3:00 p.m. where you can meet all the adoptable dogs and cats; celebrity presentations of pets from animal shelters citywide will take place between 5-6:30 p.m. The event is free and open to the public.
