-The Saint Paul Chamber Orchestra (SPCO), Minnesota Public Radio (MPR), and American Composers Forum (ACF) are pleased to announce the second season of the Composer Conversation Series, events of which will take place at Amsterdam Bar & Hall in downtown Saint PaulSeptember 2013 through April 2014. A co-presentation of the SPCO, MPR and ACF, the Composer Conversation Series is intended for music lovers of all stripes. The series will feature some of today's most original, prominent, and prestigious voices in composition discussing their worldviews, artistic perspectives, and how their life experiences have shaped them into the artists they are today. The 2013-14 season will feature live interviews with distinctive creators John Harbison; Shawn Jaeger and Dawn Upshaw; Matthias Pintscher; Serengeti, Son Lux, and Sufjan Stevens with visual artist Jim Hodges (at The Walker Art Center); Timo Andres with Gabriel Kahane, Ted Hearne, Becca Stevens, and Nathan Koci; John Luther Adams; and Vivian Fung. The events will include time devoted for audience Q&A and informal pre- and post-show receptions.

This is the second season for Liquid Music, a series that seeks to expand the world of classical music through innovative new projects, boundary-defying artists, and unique presentation formats. Each program features new works, world or regional premieres, or new collaborations including many artists working together for the first time.

The company, comprised of more than 30 performers, includes Alex Morf as Albert Narracott, Brian Keane as Arthur Narracott, Michael Wyatt Cox as Billy Narracott, Todd Cerveris as Ted Narracott, Angela Reed as Rose Narracott, Jason Loughlin as Lieutenant James Nicholls, and Mat Hostetler as Private Schnabel.

'WAR HORSE' is one of the most phenomenal, intense, visually and emotionally moving, pieces of theatre, that I have ever seen.... The high technical aspects of 'WARHORSE', are so realistically threatening, that at times I found myself gasping and closing my eyes.

Nick Stafford's adaptation of the novel, WAR HORSE, by Michael Morpurgo is an awe-inspiring and jaw-dropping spectacle brought to life by the Handspring Puppet Company. It's a fascinating and heart-wrenching tale that follows a horse named Joey and a boy named Albert, who will go to great lengths, even joining the Army, to try and locate him. The stagecraft employed for this production is remarkable. The combination of a kind of puppetry where the puppeteer is nearly invisible, dramatic projections for backdrops, and a sharp cast and director, add up to a total theatrical experience that's well worthy of your time and attention. The current touring company now playing the Fox Theatre (through March 24, 2013) is definitely up to the task at hand.

Hands down one of the most hypnotic, creatively-staged plays ever conceived for the theater, the Tony Award-winning WAR HORSE--whose National Tour is now on stage at Costa Mesa's Segerstrom Center for the Arts through February 3--is an utterly stirring feat of theatrical magic, expertly combining dazzling technical wizardry with a touching story of hope and perseverance.
