According to Newsday, Matthew James Thomas, who plays Reeve Carney's alternate in Spider-Man twice a week on Broadway, was injured backstage during Wednesday's matinee at the Foxwood's Theatre. Thomas was taken to the hospital to get stitches in his head, after suffering a head injury at the top of the second act. Reeve Carney, who was in the theatre for the performance, took over for the rest of the show.
Now, BroadwayWorld.com has learned that lead actress, T.V. Carpio, who plays the role of Arachne has been sidelined from the production with what we're told is 'whiplash' and is expected to be out for 2-3 weeks under doctor's orders. We've now been told that the injury occured on stage during one of the show's many battle scenes.

Christopher Tierney was back at SPIDER-MAN evening, as an audience member. He told the press before the show that he believed in the production, and the crew, wasn't mad at anyone and was hoping to rejoin the show as soon as he possibly could. Before entering the theatre, he spoke to press and showed off his back brace.
Word has hit Twitter that tonight's performance of SPIDER-MAN was stopped at least twice. These malfuctions would be the latest in a long line of problems for the new musical, which began previews on Nov 28, 2010.
ROCK OF AGES star Constantine Maroulis has gone on the record about SPIDER-MAN, according to the Hollywood Reporter. Maroulis says, 'It was the most poetic, provocative and beautiful piece of theater I've seen in a long f---ing time. BroadwayWorld.com was the first to report back on December 2 when Natalie Mendoza, who plays the lead role of Arachne in SPIDER-MAN: Turn Off the Dark had received a concussion and the role was to be played in her absence by understudy America Olivo. Now the New York Times is reporting that the actress is leaving the production, 'as an artistic loss and embarrassing blow to the production' and that lawyers are fine-tuning the language to explain her departure. The paper reports that she last performed in the show on Monday, December 20th, the same performance which had the injury to her fellow performer and friend Christopher Tierney.
