Seamus Scanlon's THE MCGOWAN TRILOGY Comes to the cell, Now thru 10/5

the cell, A Twenty-First Century Salon, along with the 1st Irish Theatre Festival, A Celebration of the Best of Irish Theatre presented by Origin Theatre Company, presents THE MCGOWAN TRILOGY, a series of one-act plays by award-winning writer Seamus Scanlon. Directed by Kira Simring, Artistic Director of the cell, THE MCGOWAN TRILOGY will play a strictly-limited engagement from today, September 11th - October 5th at the cell (338 West 23rd Street).

Off-Broadway's The New Group honors Beth Henley, playwright, author of Crimes of the Heart and The Jacksonian, and Geoff Rich, Executive Director of The New Group 2002-2013, with The 2014 Michael Mendelson Award at the company's Annual Gala, 'Bright Lights Off-Broadway.' The Gala, set to take place Monday, March 10 beginning at 6:00pm at Tribeca Rooftop (2 Desbrosses Street), features appearances by Ed Harris, Holly Hunter, Carol Kane, Amy Madigan, Bill Pullman and Jonathan Marc Sherman and performances by Stephen Bogardus, Lea DeLaria and John Tartaglia, along with cocktails, dinner, and silent and live auctions filled with an array of exciting items and one-of-a-kind experiences.

HARD TIMES Extends Through 2/16

After receiving critical acclaim and overwhelming demand by sold out New York audiences, Larry Kirwan's Stephen Foster musical 'Hard Times' will extend performances thru February 16th at the the cell, A Twenty First Century Salon (Founding Artistic Director, Nancy Manocherian) (338 West 23rd Street). The production will play the following ten additional performances: Wednesdays thru Saturdays 2/5-8 and 2/12-15 at 8pm; Sundays 2/9 and 2/16 at 3pm.

COCKTALES to Play Dixon Place and the Triad in December

After two sold out runs at Midtown International Theatre Festival 2012 (The Abingdon Complex) and The Gershwin Hotel, COCKTALES is coming back by popular demand to two Off-Broadway houses in December 2013: DIXON PLACE (12/7 at 10pm) and THE TRIAD (12/14 at 7pm).

Theater for the New City to Present AN AMERICAN FAMILY TAKES A LOVER, 11/7-17

'An American Family Takes a Lover' by Amina Henry is a dark, dark comedy that peeks into the household comprised of an upscale American couple, Richard David and Lady Anne, and their 'other person,' a young Black woman named Justine who is their slave. The arrival of a handyman to fix a hole in the wall sets off a series of developments that tear this cockeyed family apart in an absurd parable that explores The Stockholm Syndrome through a sexual and racial lens. Theater for the New City, 155 First Ave., will present The Cell Theatre Company's production of the play November 7 to 17. It's a premiere run, directed by Kira Simring, Artistic Director of The Cell Theatre Company (founding Artistic Director Nancy Manocherian), where the piece was originally incubated.

Kelly Kinsella's WHEN THOUGHTS ATTACK to Begin Limited Run at The Cell, 11/3

Writer, actor and comedian Kelly Kinsella is set to bring her hilarious one-woman play WHEN THOUGHTS ATTACK to NYC's the cell: A Twenty First Century Salon (338 West 23rd Street) for a limited 8-week run beginning on Sunday, 11/3 at 7pm. In this honest and funny show about anxiety, Kinsella begs to answer the question 'Is everyone crazy or is it just me?'

MCGOLDRICK'S THREAD World Premiere at 1st Irish Theater Festival Sells Out

MAN BEHIND THE CURTAIN is pleased to announce the world premiere production of Marianne Driscoll's MCGOLDRICK'S THREAD, with additional lyrics by Eliot Riskin, music by Ronnie D'Addario, dance arrangements by Patrick Mangan, choreography by Riverdance alums Jason Oremus and Garrett Coleman and directed by Kira Simring initial performances sold-out prior to the public announcement. MCGOLDRICK'S THREAD will play a two-week Off-Broadway limited engagement, as part of the 1st Irish Theater Festival, at St. Marks Theatre 80 (80 St. Marks Pl, NYC). Performances begin Wednesday, September 11 additional performances have been added to accommodate audience demand: Sept. 14th & 28th at 2:00 p.m. and Sept. 17th & 24th at 7:00 p.m.

Barrie's 'Peter Pan and Wendy' and 'The Little White Bird' and scored by the indie band, The Books. PETER/WENDY has been playing a limited engagement at the cell (338 W. 23rd St NYC). Performances began Thursday, May 30 and will now continue through Saturday, June 29.
