World Premiere of THE BRIGHTEST THING IN THE WORLD & More Announced for Yale Rep 2022-23 Season

Yale Repertory Theatre has announced its 2022–23 season of four plays. The season will begin with Edward Albee’s Who’s Afraid of Virginia Woolf?, running October 6–29. James Bundy, who directed Albee’s A Delicate Balance at Yale Rep in 2010, will stage this new production of the explosively comedic and harrowingly profound masterpiece. 

LA Opera Announces Appointment Of Keith Leonard As New Board Chair

The LA Opera Board of Directors has elected Keith Leonard as the new chair. Leonard, a board member since 2015, has served as the chair of the executive committee and vice chair of the campaign committee for the past year, where he worked closely with both board and staff leadership.

Theatre Director Gordon Davidson Passes Away at 83

Center Theatre Group mourns the loss of its Founding Artistic Director, Gordon Davidson, who passed away Sunday, October 2, 2016. Plans for a memorial event will be announced in the coming days.

Los Angeles Master Chorale Receives Major Grant from The James Irvine Foundation

The Los Angeles Master Chorale announced today that The James Irvine Foundation has awarded a $450,000 Exploring Engagement Fund grant to support the Chorale's launch of Big Sing Californiathat will culminate in June 2018.  This two-year grant will support the Chorale's ongoing efforts to utilize state-of-the-art live-streaming technology to enable thousands of Californians to connect with others throughout the state for a shared singing experience, led by its Swan Family Artist-in-Residence and Grammy award-winning composer/conductor Eric Whitacre.

Stage Manager Receives Cal State LA's Outstanding Professor Award

Cal State LA recognized professional stage manager, Meredith Greenburg, and five other faculty members for excellence in the classroom and service to the community during the 2016 University Convocation at the Luckman Fine Arts Complex.

LA Master Chorale Welcomes Award-Winning Assistant Conductor

Following a national search, the Los Angeles Master Chorale (LAMC) has appointed Hong Kong native Jenny Wong assistant conductor for a two-year period beginning in May 2016. Wong, who has served as a conducting fellow for the Oregon Bach Festival, the Baltimore Chamber Orchestra, the Norfolk Chamber Music Festival, the Distinguished Concerts International New York and Hong Kong SingFest, is one of the youngest conductors to win two consecutive World Champion titles at the World Choir Games (China, 2010) and the International Johannes Brahms Choral Competition (Germany, 2011). Currently a D.M.A. candidate in choral conducting at USC Thornton School of Music, where she also completed her M.M. and has taught choral conducting, she has served as Visiting Director of Choral Activities at University of the Pacific Conservatory of Music for the past year.

LA Master Chorale Celebrates Season with 'Rejoice! Brass Tidings' on 12/13

Blazing brass, majestic pipe organ and soaring voices add sonorous sparkle to the Los Angeles Master Chorale's 'Rejoice! Brass Tidings,' which heralds the season with such classics as Willc*cks' Carols for Brass and Choir, Daniel Pinkham's Christmas Cantata for chorus and double brass, and John Rutter's Gloria, on Sunday, December 13, 2015, 7 pm, at Walt Disney Concert Hall. Conducted by Artistic Director Grant Gershon and featuring 62 Chorale members, the program also includes Shawn Kirchner's Behold New Joy: Ancient Carols of Christmas, composed as a companion piece to Rutter's jubilant opus, Nico Muhly's Senex puerum, Paul Gibson's Rejoice in the Lord Alway and two Christmas motets by Giovanni Gabrieli for double and triple choirs.

Lionel Bringuier and Yuja Wang to Join LA Philharmonic for Concert, Today

WHAT:                   Chief Conductor and Music Director of the Tonhalle Orchestra                    Zurich and former LA Phil Resident Conductor Lionel                     Bringuier and superstar pianist Yuja Wang reunite with the Los                    Angeles Philharmonic at Walt Disney Concert Hall for three                    performances, Today and Saturday, November 20 and 21, at                    8 pm, and Sunday, November 22, at 2 pm. The two performed                    together with the LA Phil earlier this year when they opened the                    classical season of the Hollywood Bowl. Also on the program are                    the voices of the Los Angeles Master Chorale for the U.S. premiere                    of Esa-Pekka Salonen's Karawane. 

LA Master Chorale Releases First Holiday Recording in Nearly 20 Years

Now everyone can enjoy Christmas at Walt Disney Concert Hall with the Los Angeles Master Chorale's release of 'Festival of Carols,' a CD and digital download album recorded live at Disney Hall featuring favorite Christmas carols performed by the Grammy nominated-chorus and conducted by Artistic Director Grant Gershon.
