World premiere performances are a rarity. To premiere three works in one season is a very rare privilege. A Canton Symphony Orchestra (CSO) contemporary quintet – in its typical world-class fashion – will premiere a third classical work tonight, February 6 (Today at 1:00pm) and Friday, February 7 (Friday at 7:00pm) in Cable Recital Hall at Canton's Cultural Center for the Arts on Market Avenue North. The other two world premieres this season were this past fall: A Secret Gift (Eric Benjamin) and Tuba Sonata for Strings, Piano and Tuba (Tom Lukowicz).

I just saw the opening night of RED by John Logan at Boise Contemporary Theater. Wow. They are, aside from Idaho Shakespeare Festival and the National Touring Shows, the only professional theatre in Boise and they proved why.

Roundabout Theatre Company announced the full company of the new musical Death Takes A Holiday, with a book by Peter Stone & Thomas Meehan, music & lyrics by Maury Yeston, directed by Doug Hughes. Actress Helen Stenborg Passes Away at 86

Helen Stenborg, a Tony-nominated, Obie Award-winning actress and long-time spouse of the late Tony Award-winning actor Barnard Hughes, died Tuesday evening, March 22 at her Manhattan apartment. Her son Doug Hughes and daughter Laura Hughes were at her bedside. She was 86.

The production will be directed by Tony Award winner Doug Hughes at the American Airlines Theatre on Broadway (227 West 42nd St). The cast will also feature Adam Driver as 'Frank Gardner', Mark Harelik as 'Sir George Crofts', Edward Hibbert as 'Mr. Praed' & Michael Siberry as 'Reverend Samuel Gardner'.

As BroadwayWorld previously speculated, Brendan Fraser, who's film career includes The Mummy, G.I. Joe, Encino Man, Journey to the Center of the Earth and other films will make his Broadway debut in the Simon Bent play - Elling, Variety reports. The play, which will begin previews at the Ethel Barrymore Theatre on November 2, will open officially on November 21. The production will also star Denis O'Hare, Jennifer Coolidge, and Richard Easton and will be directed by Dough Hughes and produced by Howard Panter.

Like any true-blooded American that grew up in the 1980's can attest, films like Sixteen Candles, The Breakfast Club and Ferris Bueller's Day Off set the standard for sentimental teenage fare. Surprisingly Hughes only directed eight films, the last being Curly Sue in 1991, but he wrote many more, including the popular Vacation films, Weird Science, Uncle Buck and Home Alone...
