Romance is in the air at the Cincinnati Playhouse in the Park as Jane Austen's masterpiece PRIDE AND PREJUDICE, adapted for the stage by Joseph Hanreddy and J.R. Sullivan, comes to life on the Robert S. Marx Theatre stage March 8 to April 5.

It was an exciting, interesting and surprising season in the Philadelphia/ South Jersey theater world. Here are some of my favorites picks with one additional New York entry worth remembering.

So it turns out that the remedy to the hideous tradition of pantomime is Jane Austen. While Austen's characteristically subtle repartee was replaced with camp, raucous humour, there was a sense of ironic wit throughout - and some universally understood 'in' jokes for any lit geek to revel in.

Not a Jane Austen fan? That's no reason to skip Undressing Mr. Darcy. I guarantee, like Vanessa Roberts, you will find yourself quickly succumbing to the charms of Austen's storytelling, and Doornebos' as well.

Acclaimed by the press and the public alike, Jeeves and Wooster in Perfect Nonsense will extend its run at the Duke of York's Theatre until 20 September 2014. Matthew Macfadyen and Stephen Mangan will continue in the west end's new hit comedy until 5 April 2014 extending their performances as the genteel duo.

Connecticut Repertory Theatre (CRT) will present The Three Musketeers, a dapted by Linda Alper, Douglas Langworthy and Penny Metropulos from the novel by Alexandre Dumas, November 21- December 8 in the Harriet S. Bristol Riverside Theatre celebrates the 200th anniversary of Jane Austin's 19th century romance novel 'Pride & Prejudice' with an interesting, profoundly narrated stage production.

Jane Austen's witty comedy of manners - one of the most beloved novels of all time - tells the story of the five Bennet daughter who are in need of suitable husbands. The arrival of wealthy Mr. Bingley and his best friend Mr. Darcy stirs romantic thoughts among the sisters and the matrimonial matchmaking begins. Tensions mount between the young, spitfire Elizabeth Bennet and the arrogant Mr. Darcy, the he cannot escape a growing attraction to her rebellious behavior. A tangle of mistaken impressions and unexpected revelations keeps Austen's famous young couple apart until a major social error ironically allows Darcy to swallow his pride and Elizabeth to rethink her prejudice.

In celebration of the 200th Anniversary of Jane Austen's masterpiece, Southern Rep is partnering with the Jane Austen Society of Louisiana to present a limited, two week engagement of PRIDE & PREJUDICE adapted by Jon Jory, November 13 - 24, at the beautiful Ursuline Academy theatre.

It is a truth universally acknowledged that every theatergoer is in want of a great show, and that every Jane Austen fan is in want of yet another way to enjoy her favorite love story. Austen's theatrical dialogue has inspired fan fiction novels, film adaptations, musicals, and now Sacramento Theatre Company's two-act play, fantastically written by Joseph Hanreddy and J.R. Sullivan to allow characters and scenes overlap in front of a lovely common room with gorgeous wooden floors.
