Ashley Rose Montondo, a graduate of the University of Minnesota/Guthrie BFA program in Minneapolis, was cast into the lead role of Elizabeth Bennett in the Guthrie's summer smash, PRIDE AND PREJUDICE, starring opposite Mad Men star Vincent Kartheiser as Mr. Darcy when the original actor unexpectedly pulled out of the show. It is her first major starring role on the Guthrie stage, though she did have minor roles in a number of prior productions through her college program. Ashley took a few minutes to talk about her experience this summer.

The Lakewood Playhouse, located in the heart of the city, is celebrating 75 years of performances with over 400 plays and musicals and one million volunteer hours contributing to the theater's success.

Audiences should expect the unexpected and prepare to roar with laughter when they see Corpse! at Hedgerow Theatre from August 29 to October 6. When Gerald Moon's comedy thriller premiered on Broadway in 1986, the New York Post described it as 'vastly entertaining' with 'sparkling, ingenious plot twists,' and warned 'you may die laughing.'

50 SHADES! THE MUSICAL first spurt onto the solar plexus of the music theater scene on August 22, 2012 during the 2012 Edinburg Fringe Festival. Edging past SPANK! THE FIFTY SHADES PARODY by premiering about two months before its competition, 'The Original Parody' has received glowing reviews in Edinburg, Chicago, New York City, and the other markets the show has played. With a sturdy and somewhat ravenous fan base, recording a cast album was definitely a logical progression. As this musical will soon be playing in my neck of the woods, I was excited to get a chance to experience the music from the show. As I listened to the songs, I found them entertaining but not highly memorable.

The final show of the Guthrie's 50th anniversary season, Pride and Prejudice will begin previews tonight, July 6, with an opening night of July 12, and will run through August 31.
