Citadel To Stage Chicago Suburban Premiere Of Jen Silverman's Comedy THE ROOMMATE

Citadel Theatre will produce Jen Silverman's acclaimed dark comedy  THE ROOMMATE, from February 1 through March 3, according to Artistic Director Scott Phelps. The production will feature Actor's Equity members Ellen Phelps and Laurie Carter Rose as the middle-aged unmarried women who find themselves living together as housemates. Citadel co-founder Ellen Phelps will play Sharon, the shy, divorced Iowan who takes in a roommate to bring in some additional income.

EIGHTH GRADE, ROMA Nominated for Writers Guild Screenplay Awards

 The Writers Guild of America West (WGAW) and the Writers Guild of America, East (WGAE) have announced nominations for outstanding achievement in screenwriting and videogame writing during 2018. Winners will be honored at the 2019 Writers Guild Awards on Sunday, February 17, at concurrent ceremonies in Los Angeles and New York City.

Santino Fontana Will Talk TOOTSIE, Rodgers & Hart, and More at Ripley Grier Studios

Santino Fontana, star of the eagerly anticipated new Broadway musical Tootsie and creator and cast member of the upcoming Lyrics & Lyricists event We'll Have Manhattan: Rodgers & Hart in New York at the 92ndStreet Y, will be the focus of an exclusive Drama Desk interview/Q&A program on Tuesday, January 15 at 6:00 pm. When the Broadway debut of Stephen Sondheim and George Furth's Merrily We Roll Along closed in 1981 after only 16 performances, few would have thought that the story of Merrily was only just beginning. In the coming decades, Merrily would continue to captivate audiences revival after revival, growing and evolving every step of the way. It is quite the testament to the enduring power of Sondheim that this musical, so many years after an initial failure, not only still captures imaginations, but continues to be shaped by them as well.

Way Off Broadway Announces Auditions for NY FAIR LADY

Currently celebrating its 25th Silver Anniversary Season, The Way Off Broadway Dinner Theatre has announced auditions for its upcoming production of the classic Lerner & Loewe musical My Fair Lady. The beloved musical will be the dinner theatre's spring 2019 presentation following its area premiere production of Gilligan's Island - The Musical at the beginning of the year.

Roundabout Theatre Company will soon present Fiasco Theater's new production of Merrily We Roll Along, book by George Furth, music and lyrics by Stephen Sondheim. Fiasco's production will be directed by Fiasco Co-Artistic Director Noah Brody, is based on and with additional material from the original play by George S. Kaufman and Moss Hart, and will feature Music Direction & Orchestrations by Alexander Gemignani and Choreography by Lorin Latarro.

Two new character-driven relationship plays, both by award-winning women writers and both inspired by events currently at the forefront of our national consciousness, beat out 1241 other submissions in the inaugural Moss Hart & Kitty Carlisle Hart New Play Initiative. Hart NPI artistic director Christopher Hart will direct Silver Medallion-winning plays Confederates by Suzanne Bradbeer, opening Nov. 9, and Exit Wounds by Wendy Graf, opening Nov. 16, atGrove Theater Center in Burbank, where the two plays will continue to run in repertory through Dec. 16. One will be named the Gold Medallion winner and open on March 13, 2019 for a six-week, off-Broadway run in the 196-seat "Theater A" at 59E59 Theaters in New York City.

The Royal Crown Players of Roslyn High School are starting off their season with the American classic comedy, The Man Who Came to Dinner, directed by Cyndi Feinman. Written by Moss Hart and George S. Kaufman, The Man Who Came to Dinner was first produced on stage in 1939 and has become one of the most beloved American comedies, with adaptations on radio, TV, and film.

The Theatre Artists Workshop in Norwalk will present a staged reading of the Broadway hit 'God of Carnage' by Yasmina Reza, translated by Christopher Hampton, on November 16 and 17 at 8 p.m. and November 18 at 3 p.m. Theatre Artists Workshop is located at 5 Gregory Boulevard in Norwalk. Reservations are recommended. The box office reservation line is: 203-854-6830. Suggested donation is $25 and will help to support the non-profit organization's future programming.
