The Industry, a trailblazing arts organization known for staging groundbreaking site-specific performances across Los Angeles, has announced the appointment of Tim Griffin as its new Executive Director effective June 20, 2023. With more than two decades of leadership experience among prominent arts organizations defined by their commitment to innovation and engagement with broad publics, Griffin will further propel the company's mission of experimentation and interdisciplinary collaboration.

Mills Music Now series, the Mills College Music Department and the Center for Contemporary Music in February presents the award winning composer/improviser Nicole Mitchell on Saturday, February 5, 2022, 8:00 PM (PST). Nicole is the 2021-22 Jean Macduff Vaux Composer-in-Residence performing in the Jeannik Méquet Littlefield Concert Hall with the concert also available as a Live Stream. 

Presented by the Mills College Music Department and Center for Contemporary Music, the 2021-22 Mills Music Now Concert Series celebrates a rich tradition of experimentation and a glimpse into the future of a broad range of musical practices. The October Mills Music Now Concert offers a springboard into this tradition of experimentation with Sarah Cahill in the The Future is Female concert on October 30.  

Stevens wrote and recorded Convocations in the fall of 2020 in homage to the life of his father and in response to his death in September, two days after the release of The Ascension. Each volume replicates and reflects a stage of mourning—five sonic cycles exploring loss, isolation and anxiety.

Convocations, a two-and-a-half-hour, 49 track reflection on present times, is out May 6 via Asthmatic Kitty. Revelations follows the first two volumes, Meditations and Lamentations. Further volumes are to be released weekly.

The album is accompanied by a longform generative video art piece created by Mexican artist Melissa Fuentes. Sections of the larger work will be released alongside each single and volume on YouTube.

LA Opera has commissioned composer and librettist Carla Lucero to write The Three Women of Jerusalem (Las Tres Mujeres de Jerusalén), an opera to be performed in 2022 by a cast of hundreds in a monumental staging at the Cathedral of Our Lady of the Angels, with hundreds of additional performers joining in virtually from around the world.

The fourth concert of Interpretations series' 30th Season also features bassist Mark Dresser, and multi-reeds virtuoso J.D. Parran in quartet.

Event based theatrical distribution company, Hydro Studios announced today that they are collaborating Sun and Moon Films to distribute the music documentary BALI: BEATS OF PARADISE. Directed and produced by Livi Zheng and featuring Judith Hill,the original documentary pulls back the curtain on Gamelan music and Nyoman Wenten - a celebrated Indonesian composer who sets out to pay homage to the sacred but shrinking tradition of Balinese music and dance, Gamelan, in his home country. Gamelan has been used in the film Avatar by James Cameron, the TV show Star Trek as well as the Nintendo game Mario Bros.

New York-based ??(OHMSLICE) will be releasing its debut album Conduit September 8 on Imaginator Records. The album was recorded at Ft.Lb Studios in Brooklyn, produced by the outfit's primum mobile multi-instrumentalist Bradford Reed (King Missile III, inventor of the electric board zither called the 'pencilina') .

Nigel Redden, Lincoln Center Festival Director, today announced the lineup for the 2017 Festival, which runs from July 10 to 30.  This summer, in its 22nd season, the Festival continues to accentuate its mission of globalism by inviting to Lincoln Center artists and companies from many parts of the world who are creating audacious, original, and relevant work. Musicians, actors, writers, directors, filmmakers and dancers from a dozen countries and five continents will animate Lincoln Center's campus venues with bold creations-43 performances packed in a span of three weeks.

Internationally acclaimed Pennington Dance Group celebrates its 15th Anniversary with two concerts on March 26 and March 27 at the State Playhouse, located on the campus of Cal State LA (just east of downtown Los Angeles).
