For the first time ever, the musical Carrie is available for performances by Schools and Theaters through R&H Theatricals and the recent MCC production has been preserved in a cast recording. MCC Theater is currently presenting a special reading of Neil LaBute's The Heart of The Matter for four performances only that began on June 13 and closes tomorrow, June 16. The reading stars Eddie Kaye Thomas (American Pie, MCC's The Submission), Tammy Blanchard (Gypsy, How to Succeed…), and Michael Chernus (In The Wake, The Aliens) alongside Emmanuelle Chriqui ("Entourage," "The Borgias"), Cheyenne Jackson ("30 Rock," Xanadu) and Krysten Ritter ("Don't Trust the B---- in Apartment 23," "Breaking Bad"). All performances are being held at the Lucille Lortel Theatre and are directed by Carolyn Cantor (Regrets at Manhattan Theatre Club, MCC's production of LaBute's In a Dark Dark House). Proceeds will support MCC Theater's Playwrights' Coalition program, free PlayLab reading series and literary development activities. The Drama League announced today the winners for the 78th Annual Drama League Awards: Distinguished Play, Other Desert Cities, presented by Philip Seymour Hoffman; Distinguished Revival of a Play, Death of a Salesman, presented by Christian Borle; Distinguished Production of a Musical, Once, presented by Cynthia Nixon; Distinguished Revival of a Musical, Follies, presented by Kelli O'Hara; and Distinguished Performance, Audra McDonald, presented by John Lithgow at a star-studded luncheon ceremony hosted by Stockard Channing (Other Desert Cities) and John Larroquette (Gore Vidal's The Best Man) at the Marriott Marquis Times Square.
The legendary stage musical CARRIE will soon be available for licensing from R&H Theatricals, and its score will be published by Imagem Music, each a division of the Imagem Music Group. Based on Stephen King's best-selling novel, CARRIE features music by Academy Award winner Michael Gore (Fame, Terms of Endearment), lyrics by Academy Award winner Dean Pitchford (Fame, Footloose), and a book by Lawrence D. Cohen (screenwriter of the classic film).
