Last night, the Critics' Choice Awards were announced. Taking home the top prize of Best Picture was Roma. Also, in a surprising turn of events, both Lady Gaga and Glenn Close took home the award for Best Actress, for A Star is Born and The Wife, respectively.
Sundance Now's THIS CLOSE Unveils Season Two Guest Star Lineup

Sundance Now, AMC Networks' premium video streaming service, today announced actors Marcia Cross (“Desperate Housewives”), Camryn Manheim (“Waco”), Austin Nichols (“The Walking Dead”), Lisa Rinna (“Real Housewives of Beverly Hills”), Margaret Cho (“Bright”) and Millicent Simmonds (A Quiet Place) will guest star in the second season of “This Close.” They will join guest stars Zach Gilford, Colt Prattes, Marlee Matlin, Cheryl Hines, Nyle DiMarco, and Moshe Kasher who will reprise their roles from season one. The expanded second season features eight, 30-minute episodes, and is currently filming in Los Angeles. New episodes will be available on Sundance Now in 2019.

The LA Film Festival, produced by Film Independent, announced the winners of the 2018 Festival at the Awards Reception at the W Hotel in Hollywood presided over by Festival Director Jennifer Cochis and Film Independent President Josh Welsh. Cochis and Welsh also took the opportunity to thank the more than 50 generous sponsors, funders and media partners without whom the Festival would not be possible.
A QUIET PLACE Sequel Announced At CinemaCon

According to Entertainment Weekly, Paramount Pictures is returning to A Quiet Place. Chairman Jim Gianopulos announced Wednesday at CinemaCon that the studio is already developing a sequel to John Krasinski's breakout horror hit.

Nominations for THE CRITICS CHOICE AWARDS were announced today. Fox Searchlight's THE SHAPE OF WATER leads the pack with a whopping 14 nominations. Best Picture and Director contenders included DUNKIRK, CALL ME BY YOUR NAME, LADY BIRD and THE POST, each with eight nominations.
INSPIRING WONDERSTRUCK features Nine Films Selected by Brian Selznick

Brian Selznick's books, including Wonderstruck and The Invention of Hugo Cabret, are cabinets of wonder, drawing us into their magical tales with child-eyed awe. Both novels drew upon cinematic influences for both story and visual style. On the occasion of the new movie adaptation of Wonderstruck, directed by Todd Haynes, Museum of the Moving Image will present the screening series Inspiring Wonderstruck, featuring some of the movies that inspired both the book and the movie, from October 13 through 22, 2017. On October 14, during the opening weekend of the series, the Museum will present a preview screening of Wonderstruck with Selznick, production designer Mark Friedberg, and costume designer Sandy Powell in person, followed by a book signing with Selznick.
