Based on interviews with friends and family who have lived in the occupied territories, Khalil's groundbreaking work renders a 71-year history of Palestinian lives with disarming humor and resonant humanity. Highly theatrical vignettes of surprisingly familiar stories offer audiences of all backgrounds and vantage points a rarely-glimpsed window into the realities of life under occupation a perspective sorely lacking on American stages.

Crowded Fire Theater (CFT), known as a vital home for new play development and production on the West Coast, announced Sara Huddleston, Heather Kelly-Laws, Alice Ruiz, and Randy Wong-Westbrooke as the second year IGNITE FUND awardees. The IGNITE FUND awards $10,000 in total annually to support the growth of and enhance the working lives of Bay Area theater designers and technicians through a competitive grant process.

Golden Thread Productions, the first American theatre company to focus on the Middle East, continues its 20th Anniversary Season with the West Coast premiere of Yussef El Guindi's humorous and hard-hitting Our Enemies: Lively Scenes of Love and Combat, directed by Founding Artistic Director Torange Yeghiazarian. In this juicy denunciation of the mainstream media machine, struggling writer Gamal hates the way his fellow Arab-Americans represent their culture on American media. It's easy enough to take out his frustration on literature superstar Mohsen and local mosque leader, Sheikh Alfani. But when his own girlfriend and novelist Noor gets an offer from a major publisher backed with a national media campaign, how will Gamal manage his frustration? Our Enemies runs October 28-November 20, 2016 at the Thick House (1695 18th Street, San Francisco) and performs Thursdays-Saturdays at 8pm, and Sundays at 3pm. This year's Critics Circle Awards, sponsored by Actor's Equity Association, today announced is nominees for excellence in San Francisco Bay area theater. Berkeley Rep's production of American Idiot, which played in the fall of 2009, leads with 12 nominations and will open on Broadway this spring.
