On Sunday August 4 Kritzerland presented its monthly tribute this time in honor of composers Meredith Willson (right) and Gene de Paul. On hand were regulars host Bruce Kimmel, musical director par excellence Tom Griep and terrific singers Jane Noseworthy, Chelsea Emma Franko, Robert Yacko, and newcomers to Kritzerland: Charlotte Mary Wen, this year's winner of LA's Next Great Stage Star 2013, Allen Everman, Justin Jones, Bruce Merkle and David Zack. Special guest star was the beautiful Sue Raney who had a record contract at Capitol Records at the age of 17.

BWW TV Los Angeles correspondents Michael Sterling and Jerry Evans visit with the cast of Musical Theatre West's (MTW) much anticipated Southern California 20th Anniversary revival of Sunset Boulevard on stage now through July 28, 2013 at the 1,070-seat Richard and Karen Carpenter Performing Arts Center in Long Beach, CA. The production previewed for one performance only on July 12, 2013 exactly 20 years to the day after the show's world premiere. Valerie Perri and David Burnham star, with Norman Large and Ashley Fox Linton are interviewed along with MTW Executive Director/Producer Paul Garman. The critically acclaimed revival is directed by Larry Raben with Musical Direction by David Lamoureux and Staging by John Todd. Check out the video below!

BWW TV Los Angeles Correspondents Michael Sterling and A.J. Hernandez were on hand for a sneak peak at rehearsal's and one-one-one cast and creative team interviews last Friday, July 19 for The Hollywood Bowl's production of the third longest running musical in Broadway history – CHICAGO. The production stars Samantha Barks as Velma, Drew Carey as Amos, Lucy Lawless as Mama Morton, Stephen Moyer as Billy Flynn, and Ashlee Simpson as Roxie Hart. The Production will be presented July 26 – July 28, at the historic 17,000 seat venue and is directed by Brooke Shields with Musical Direction by Rob Fisher.

BWW TV Los Angeles Correspondents Michael Sterling and Jerry Evans were back on the red carpet speaking to the stars last week for the official L.A. opening of SISTER ACT at Hollywood's historic Pantages Theatre. Among the many celebrities in attendance, Sterling chatted with Robert Townsend, Shoshana Bean, Ruta Lee, Jo Anne Worley, Jaden Betts, Kate Linder, Dmitry Chaplin (So You Think You Can Dance), Jonathan Buckley (Host of the new NBC reality series Siberia), and SISTER ACT'S Ta'Rea Campbell (Book of Mormon, Lion King) who stars as Deloris Van Cartier. On Sunday July 7, Kritzerland presented its 35th show The British Invasion, music from UK musicals of the 60s and 70s, at Sterling's Upstairs at the Federal. I can only say to Bruce Kimmel, 'good show, ole' boy'!

The new Broadway production of JEKYLL & HYDE, starring Constantine Maroulis and Deborah Cox, plays its final performance today, May 12, 2013, after 15 previews and 30 regular performances at the Marquis Theatre. Direct from a 25-week national tour which launched in October 2012, JEKYLL & HYDE began previews on Broadway on April 5 and opened on April 18, 2013. A company of more than 25 stars of stage and screen entertained a packed house at the historic Saban Theatre in Beverly Hills on Saturday night (April 6) at the 29th Annual Southland Theatre Artists Goodwill Event (S.T.A.G.E.). BWW TV's Michael Sterling and Jerry Evans of the JLE Media Group were on hand for an up close and personal look at the event , themed 'Broadway, My Way,' which raised more than $285,000 for HIV/AIDS direct care, education, and advocacy services offered by AIDS Project Los Angeles (APLA). On Sunday, February 10 LA's Next Great Stage Star 2013 came to a thrilling conclusion atSterling's Upstairs at the Federal. Sadly, one contestant, Matthew Bohrer, was stranded at Logan Airport, Boston due to the East coast blizzard of the past several days. Host Michael Sterling contacted Bohrer by cell at the top of the show, and what followed was a bittersweet exchange. Bohrer expressed his happiness to have been part of the competition for five weeks, and his sorrow for not being able to be there for the finale, as he wished his fellow contestants all the best of luck. His points for the preceding weeks were still counted in the final tally.
