The Taper's THE CHRISTIANS to Hold Choir Auditions Next Month

Center Theatre Group is seeking a diverse group of singers from across the greater Los Angeles community to perform as members of the church choir in the West Coast premiere of THE CHRISTIANS, written by Lucas Hnath and directed by Les Waters, presented by CTG and Playwrights Horizons at the Mark Taper Forum, December 2, 2015, through January 10, 2016.

Kathy Griffin Adds Two More Shows at the Taper This November

After an overwhelming demand, the two-time Emmy and Grammy Award-winning comedian Kathy Griffin has extended the engagement of her 'Like A Boss' Tour at the Center Theatre Group / Mark Taper Forum in Downtown Los Angeles. Originally announced for November 4 and 5, Griffin has added two more 8 p.m. performances - Friday, November 6 and Saturday, November 7.

Playwrights Horizons Now Accepting $5 Lottery Entries for THE CHRISTIANS' First Preview

Playwrights Horizons begins accepting entries today, Wednesday, August 19, for the LIVEforFIVE online lottery for $5 tickets to their New York premiere of THE CHRISTIANS, a new play by Lucas Hnath (A Public Reading of an Unproduced Screenplay About the Death of Walt Disney, Isaac's Eye, Death Tax).  Directed by Obie Award winner Les Waters (Doris to Darlene at PH; the recent 10 Out of 12; In the Next Room, or the vibrator play; Big Love; eurydice), the play is the opening production of the theater company's 2015/2016 Season, and it's a co-production with L.A.'s Center Theatre Group (Michael Ritchie, Artistic Director; Stephen D. Rountree, Managing Director).

Nilo Cruz, Lisa Loomer, Octavio Solis & More Set for Hero Theatre's FESTIVAL IRENE

Pulitzer-winning writer of Anna in the Tropics, Nilo Cruz, will be one of the playwrights featured in Hero Theatre's Festival Irene: Celebrating the Legacy of Maria Irene Fornes. The festival will include some of Fornes' most celebrated plays and feature works from some of her former students. Other Award-winning playwrights and former Fornes students that are part of the festival include Jorge Ignacio Cortiñas (Bird In the Hand), Migdalia Cruz (Miriam's Flowers), Lisa Loomer (Distracted), Eduardo Machado (The Cook), Cherrie Moraga (Heroes and Saints), Octavio Solis (Lydia) and Caridad Svich (Antigone Project).

Hero Theatre to Host Maria Irene Fornes Play Festival

Hero Theatre announced today that the company's 2016/2017 season will commence with Festival Irene: Celebrating the Legacy of Maria Irene Fornes. The festival of plays will be presented as staged readings. It will include some of Fornes' most celebrated works in addition to featuring plays written by some of her students who are amongst some of the most prominent Latina/o writers in America today. Esteemed dramaturg, literary agent and founder of This Distracted Globe Consultancy, Morgan Jenness, will serve as consultant on the project.

San Francisco Playhouse Adds THE NETHER to for 2015-16 Season

San Francisco Playhouse (Artistic Director Bill English and Producing Director Susi Damilano) announced its final selection for the previously-announced 2015-2016 Mainstage season: Jennifer Haley's mind-blowing exploration of second-life morality and virtual criminality, The Nether.

Dael Orlandersmith's FOREVER Opens Tonight at NYTW

The New York premiere of FOREVER, the fourth production of the New York Theatre Workshop (NYTW) (Artistic Director James C. Nicola and Managing Director Jeremy Blocker), created and performed by Pulitzer Prize finalist Dael Orlandersmith (Monster, The Gimmick) and directed by Neel Keller (The Nether), officially opens tonight, May 4, 2015 at New York Theatre Workshop (79 E. 4th Street New York, NY 10003). FOREVER runs through Sunday, May 31, 2015.

Young Jean Lee's STRAIGHT WHITE MEN Heads to the Kirk Douglas Theatre This Year

Center Theatre Group, in collaboration with the Center for the Art of Performance at UCLA, will present the West Coast premiere of Young Jean Lee's newest work, the acclaimed play "Straight White Men," November 20 - December 20, 2015, at CTG's Kirk Douglas Theatre, it was announced today by CTG Artistic Director Michael Ritchie.
