Broadway Legend Joel Grey & Others To Be Honored By Third Street Music School

On Monday, May 14, 2018, Third Street Music School Settlement (Third Street), the nation's longest running community school, will honor Grammy Award-winning Singer and Songwriter Rosanne Cash, Tony and Oscar Award-winner Joel Grey, and long-time Board Member and Award-winning Architect Byron Bell at its Annual Spring Gala. Graham Parker, President of Universal Studios Classical Music Labels, will serve as master of ceremonies and Lydia Fenet, Senior Vice President of Christie's Auction House will host the live auction. Members of the cast of SpongeBob SquarePants: The Broadway Musical also will perform. Held at Capitale (130 Bowery) in New York City, the gala will bring together hundreds of luminaries from the arts, culture, education, media, business, finance and philanthropy worlds to pay tribute to the honorees for their contributions to and leadership in arts and music education. Funds raised through attendance, live and silent auction participation will help support Third Street scholarships and financial aid services. With its roots in the settlement movement, Third Street today serves more than 5,000 New Yorkers of all ages and backgrounds by providing high quality, accessible music and dance instruction in more than 25 instruments and voice. More than 75% of Third Street students receive financial aid or scholarships through the school's Partners program, which sends teaching artists into community centers and public schools throughout New York City. Alumni include well-known artists Bobby Lopez, Jessie Montgomery, Irving Caesar, among others. This year's honorees join a roster of previous honorees that includes The Roots, Sting, Yoko Ono, Harold Prince, Philip Glass, and Audra McDonald. Rosanne Cash will be presented with Third Street's Award for Distinguished Achievement in the Arts and Joel Grey will receive Third Street's Award for Lifetime Achievement in the Arts. Drew Droege to Lead Celebration Theatre's DIE, MOMMIE, DIE!

Casting is set for the Celebration Theatre production of 'Die, Mommie, Die!' which Center Theatre Group is remounting at the Kirk Douglas Theatre as part of the second annual Block Party: Celebrating Los Angeles Theatre. Written by Charles Busch and directed by Ryan Bergmann, 'Die, Mommie, Die!' will begin previews May 10, open May 12 and close May 20.

CTG Announces Cast for BLOODLETTING

Casting is set for the Playwrights' Arena production of "Bloodletting," which Center Theatre Group" is remounting at the Kirk Douglas Theatre as part of the second annual Block Party: Celebrating Los Angeles Theatre. Written by Boni B. Alvarez and directed by Playwrights' Arena Artistic Director Jon Lawrence Rivera, "Bloodletting" will begin previews March 29, open March 31 and close April 8.

Ahmanson Rounds Out Season with Matthew Bourne's CINDERELLA and INDECENT

Center Theatre Group announced two more productions for the 2018 - 2019 season at the Ahmanson Theatre. Pulitzer-winning playwright Paula Vogel's deeply moving play with music, 'Indecent,' and the return of Matthew Bourne's highly evocative production of 'Cinderella' complete the 52nd season at the Ahmanson Theatre joining the previously announced 'Ain't Too Proud-The Life and Times of The Temptations,' 'Come From Away,' 'Dear Evan Hansen,' the Lincoln Center Theater production of 'Falsettos' and 'The Play That Goes Wrong.'

Center Theatre Group Hosts Free College & Career Fair for the Arts

Center Theatre Group invites current high school students, parents and teachers to attend the third annual College & Career Fair for the Arts on March 17, 2018, from 9:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. The fair is free to attend and will take place at the Music Center Annex located at 601 W. Temple St. in Downtown L.A.

Center Theatre Group Selects Three Productions for Block Party at Douglas

Center Theatre Group has selected three local productions for the second annual Block Party: Celebrating Los Angeles Theatre at the Kirk Douglas Theatre. Block Party 2018 will remount Celebration Theatre's production of Die, Mommie, Die!, Critical Mass Performance Group's production of Ameryka and Playwrights' Arena's production of Bloodletting. Each production will have a two-week run with 12 performances presented March 29 through May 20, 2018. The three visiting companies will receive the full support of Center Theatre Group and its staff in order to fund, stage and market each production.

Rehearsals have begun for Center Theatre Group's production of Water by the Spoonful by Quiara Alegr a Hudes. The 2012 Pulitzer Prize-winning play will be produced at the Mark Taper Forum January 31 through March 11, 2018. Directed by Lileana Blain-Cruz, the opening of Water by the Spoonful is set for February 11.

ELLIOT TRILOGY to Play Concurrently in Los Angeles Theatres

Los Angeles audiences will have the rare opportunity to follow Quiara Alegri a Hudes' Elliot Trilogy playing concurrently at theatres across the city in early 2018. Center Theatre Group's production of Pulitzer finalist Elliot, A Soldier's Fugue (at the Kirk Douglas Theatre January 27 through February 25, 2018) and Pulitzer winner Water by the Spoonful (at the Mark Taper Forum January 31 through March 11) will be joined by Latino Theater Company's production of the final installment of the trilogy The Happiest Song Plays Last (at the Los Angeles Theatre Center February 17 through March 19). It is the first time all three plays will run at the same time in one city.

'Bright Star' begins previews tonight, October 11, opens October 20, and runs through November 19, 2017 at the Ahmanson Theatre. Presented by Center Theatre Group, the Tony Award-nominated Best Musical, with music, lyrics and story by Grammy, Emmy and Oscar winner Steve Martin and Grammy winner Edie Brickell, will be directed by Tony Award winner Walter Bobbie and choreographed by Josh Rhodes.
