The Mario Lanza Society of New York will hold another of its gala luncheons saluting the late tenor on Saturday September 15, 2012 at 1 P.M. at Patsy's Restaurant (236 West 56th Street). Among those paying tribute to Lanza's career will be legendary soprano Elaine Malbin and featured performers soprano Emily Stokes, tenor Michael Padgett, and accompanist David Schaefer. The musical program will also include recorded selections from the illustrious careers of Mr. Lanza and Ms. Malbin.

A LETTER TO Harvey Milk, a new musical which was a finalist in this year's prestigious Richard Rodgers Awards for Musical Theater, is one of 10 musical plays being presented by the 2012 New York Musical Theatre Festival Next Link Project (NYMF). The musical features an impressive cast led by Leslie Kritzer (Sondheim on Sondheim, A Catered Affair Legally Blonde), Jeff Keller (Phantom of the Opera, Sunday in the Park, Candide), Cheryl Stern (Into the Woods, La Cage Aux Folles, The Women, Les Miserable), Michael Bartoli (Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat), Brandon Uranowitz (Baby It's You, Rent, Ragtime), Michael Padgett (Jekyll and Hyde) and Sara Corey (Beau Jest).
About a year ago, I was asked to do a recording of a musical called A Letter To Harvey Milk. I wasn't familiar with the writing team but from the moment I set foot in Ellen Schwartz's apartment and began to read the scenes and sing a bit of one of my songs, I knew I had come home!!!

Dinner will be available starting at 7 PM. There is a $20 cover charge and no minimum. Reservations are suggested by calling Grotta Azzurra at 212-925-8775.

The Artists Theatre Group is presenting an invitation-only stage reading of a new musical, Republic, by Dylan Glatthorn, who wrote both music and lyrics for the score and co-authored the book on Monday, April 13, at the Acorn Theatre in the Theatre Row Complex (410 West 42nd St.) at 7 PM. The backdrop of the musical is the events that lead up to the revolution that made Ireland a free nation.
