Dallas Theater Center announced today a new program for the 2013-14 season, DTC Book Club hosted by DTC Artistic Director Kevin Moriarty. DTC Book Club events are scheduled to take place with productions of Oedipus el Rey, The Fortress of Solitude, Sherlock Holmes: The Final Adventure and Les Miserables. Country music star Taylor Swift has joined the cast of THE GIVER, according to The New York Post's Page Six. The singer joins previously announced cast members Meryl Streep, Katie Holmes and Jeff Bridges.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, Katie Holmes has signed on for the film adaptation of the hit young adult novel THE GIVER by Lois Lowry, directed by Philip Noyce. The movie will hit theaters on August 15, 2014, also starring Meryl Streep, Jeff Bridges and Brenton Thwaites. Michael Mitnick penned the script.
The Old Globe today announced the complete cast and creative team for the World Premiere comedy The Few by award-winning playwright Samuel D. Hunter (The Whale). Directed by Davis McCallum, The Few will run Sept. 28 - Oct. 27, 2013 in the Sheryl and Harvey White Theatre, part of the Globe's Conrad Prebys Theatre Center. Preview performances run Sept. 28 - Oct. 2. After yesterday's news that Canadian pop group Barenaked Ladies will no longer be writing songs for the musical adaptation of ANIMAL HOUSE, The Calgary Herald reports that the band's lead singer Ed Robertson said he and the group are 'disappointed that things didn't work out' with the show and that they 'ultimately couldn't give any more time to the project' due to a new record and tour.
