The ?Harold Clurman Playwrights Division, a program of the Stella Adler Studio of Acting's Lab Theater, is now accepting new play submissions. In the second annual search for ten-minute plays with social impact, the division is calling for plays that address one of three themes: global gender violence, the environmental crisis, the school to prison pipeline.

The Harold Clurman Lab Theater, the professional wing of the Stella Adler Studio of Acting New York City and the Art of Acting Studio Los Angeles, is proud to announce its cast for the upcoming production of Lee Blessing's Great Falls; Jane Levy, alumnus of the studio, and former star of 'Suburgatory' on ABC will join Ovation-nominated actor Michael Keith Allen. Great Falls will be directed by Managing Artist Director of the Art of Acting Studio, Don K. Williams, and will open on January 22nd, 2015.

The Harold Clurman Lab Theater, the professional wing of the Stella Adler Studio of Acting New York City and the Art of Acting Studio Los Angeles, is proud to announce its 2015 season: Three Sisters by Anton Chekhov, directed by Tom Oppenheim, will open on February 5th, 2015 in New York; a contemporary play directed by Don K. Williams, will open Janaury 22nd, 2015 in Los Angeles; Macbeth by William Shakespeare, directed by Don K. Williams, will open in May of 2015 in Los Angeles; a world premiere of a new play, developed by the Harold Clurman Playwrights Division, will open in June of 2015 in New York; and Uncle Vanya by Anton Chekhov, directed by Tom Oppenheim, will open in September of 2015 in New York.

The Harold Clurman Playwrights Division, a program of the Stella Adler Studio of Acting, has announced the results of its search for ten-minute plays with social impact. In early 2014, the division sought plays that address issues of the environmental crisis or global violence against women and girls. Over sixty plays were received. Seven of them will be read on Monday, October 20, 2014 at 7pm as part of the Harold Clurman Festival of the Arts, an annual event that highlights the relationship between art and social activism. The cast will be comprised of studio alumni and faculty. The selected plays and authors follow:

American Theater Company (ATC) kicks off its 30th Anniversary season with two Chicago premieres exploring healthcare in America: Anna Deavere Smith's documentary Let Me Down Easy featuring ATC Ensemble Member Usman Ally, and Mercy Strain by Michael Milligan, top prize winner at the 2013 Edinburgh Festival. ATC's production is the first time Let Me Down Easy will be performed by an artist other than Deavere Smith.

American Theater Company announces the final production of its 30th Anniversary season: the world premiere of The Project(s), a documentary play on Chicago's public housing, conceived, co-written, and directed by ATC Artistic Director PJ Paparelli and co-written by Joshua Jaeger.

The Harold Clurman Playwrights Division, a program of the Stella Adler Studio of Acting, has opened its search for the Playwright-in-Residence for 2015 and announced three additional categories for playwrights. The residency program seeks an emerging writer who will collaborate with the studio for one year, develop a new play and receive a $1,000 stipend. The current resident is Dennis Staroselsky and previous residents include Halley Feiffer, Mia Chung, Anton Dudley, Christina Gorman, Zayd Dohrn, and Peter Nickowitz.

The award winning one-man show MERCY KILLERS, written by and starring Broadway actor Michael Milligan, will be presented at Lannie's Clocktower Cabaret for one night only, on Sunday, March 9th at 7:00 p.m. This thought-provoking and moving play, about America's broken health care system, is sponsored by the Healthcare for All Colorado Foundation.

The Harold Clurman Playwrights Division, a program of the Stella Adler Studio of Acting, has chosen actor/writer Dennis Staroselsky as it's Playwright-in-Residence for 2014. On Thursday, January 30, 2014, after Michael Milligan's powerful off-Broadway production MERCY KILLERS, Teresa Eyring will conduct a talkback with three actors - all who have written and performed powerful, socially relevant plays produced by important regional theaters. This is the continuation of a conversation between MERCY KILLERS Director Tom Oppenheim and Teresa Eyring about actors who empower themselves by creating their own work and will begin at approximately 8:40PM, after the 7:30PM performance of MERCY KILLERS.

Taking Mercy Killers to the Edinburgh Fringe was a last minute idea. I wanted to keep the show going and had been to the Fringe as a kid with the Columbus Children's Theater. It was a truly formative experience, and I always wanted to go back.
