Celebrate The Life Of Theatre Icon Iris Acker At The Wick Theatre

The South Florida theatre community will unite to celebrate the life of Iris Acker on Monday, October 15, 2018 at The Wick Theatre in Boca Raton. The iconic actress, dancer, teacher, producer and talk show host was a dynamic theatre champion and one of most beloved members of the arts community. Her family, along with key members of the theatre realm, have planned a very special tribute, highlighting her lengthy career and indelible impact. Doors open at 6:30pm.

Palm Beach Dramaworks Launches New Year/New Plays Festival

The new year is a time of new beginnings. Palm Beach Dramaworks will usher in 2019 with the introduction of a program that gives the general public a first look at plays so new, they're still evolving. The Dramaworkshop's first-ever New Year/New Plays Festival will take place over the weekend of January 4-6, when five plays will receive readings on PBD's mainstage. Saturday'sprogram will also include a discussion, "Regional Theatre and the Future of American Plays," featuring panelists of industry professionals from major organizations.

Box Office Opens Monday Sep. 24 For Michael McKeever's DANIEL'S HUSBAND

Tickets go on sale to the general public on Monday, September 24, 2018, via Telelcharge.com and the Box Office at Westside Theatre will be open beginning October 8 for the acclaimed play DANIEL'S HUSBAND, written by Michael McKeever and directed by Joe Brancato.

Casting Announced For DANIEL'S HUSBAND At Westside Theatre

DANIEL'S HUSBAND - a new play by Michael McKeever, directed by Joe Brancato - will open this fall Off-Broadway at the Westside Theatre (407 West 43 St.), with previews beginning Thursday, October 18 prior to opening night Sunday, October 28. Ted Snowdon is the producer of this open-end, Off-Broadway engagement.

Lynn University Launches Jan McArt's New Play Readings

Lynn University and Jan McArt, producer and director of theatre arts program development, today invited theater fans to the opening show of this season's Jan McArt's New Play Readings. Under the leadership and guidance of McArt, this program develops new plays by highly acclaimed playwrights through staged readings. Tony Finstrom is associate producer and Wayne Rudisill is resident director of this series, with readings held in the university's Keith C. and Elaine Johnson Wold Performing Arts Center.

Primary Stages Announces Casting For FINAL FOLLIES And DOWNSTAIRS

Hudson, Executive Director; Casey Childs, Founder) is proud to announce complete casting today for the first two productions of their 2018/19 season: Final Follies, by A.R. A beautiful young widow refuses to give up an heirloom worth a fortune, given to her by her late husband. A retired fighter pilot is made to rethink what can be truly beautiful when a woman steps into his life. Jazz music is mixed with midlife crises and life's tempting tricks, complicating the search for 'happily ever afters.' A modern take on an old-fashioned romantic farce, where five intertwined lives wind up in a secluded New York cabin. These are the plays that comprise the 2018-19 'Jan McArt New Play Readings' series, to be presented at Boca Raton's Lynn University beginning Monday, October 22nd.

BWW Previews: 2018 SEASON PREVIEW at Penguin Repertory Theatre

Every spring for the last 40 years, something very special has happened in Rockland County: the Penguin Rep, the not-for-profit professional Equity theatre started by artistic director Joe Brancato in 1977, begins its season. This year will be their 41st season! Brancato along with with executive director Andrew M. Horn -- has grown Penguin from a small summer theatre into what the New York Times calls: 'the gutsiest little theater!' - one of the Hudson Valley's most influential nonprofit cultural institutions, and nearly half a million theater-goers have passed through its doors during that time.
