Manchester based Hope Theatre Company are bringing #BeMoreMartyn: The Boy with the Deirdre Tattoo, the play about Martyn Hett to The Lowry next week. Martyn, and 21 others, lost their lives in the 2017 Manchester Arena bombing.
Based on the hit 1990 romantic drama film of the same name, GHOST, a timeless fantasy about the power of love, had its Brazilian premiere at Teatro Bradesco in Sao Paulo. The plot centers on lovers Sam and Molly, who are attacked as they are returning to their apartment. When Sam dies he becomes caught between the real world and the next. Molly is in danger and Sam cannot leave her. A phony storefront medium, Oda Mae Brown, helps Sam to get in touch with Molly to warn her.
Lincoln Center for the Performing Arts (LCPA) raised a record $10.4 million last night at its Spring Gala honoring Hearst Corporation, as announced by Katherine Farley, chair of Lincoln Center. The event, attended by more than 500 people, lauded Hearst President and CEO Steven R. Swartz, and Executive Vice-chairman and former CEO, Frank A. Bennack, Jr. for the enormous and varied contributions to Lincoln Center made by them as well as by their company. Both men serve on Lincoln Center's Board of Directors; Mr. Bennack was chairman of Lincoln Center from 2005 through 2010, and Mr. Swartz is currently chairman of Lincoln Center's Corporate Fund.
It was a winning night at Fenway Park for the Commonwealth Shakespeare Company and the hometown fans as they celebrated with an all-star roster for SHAKESPEARE AT FENWAY. The one-night event had comedy, tragedy, and some extra excitement (not unlike the Red Sox) for a great start to CSC's 20th anniversary season.
