Highways turns 30! The performance space presents Behold! Highways' Queer Fest 2019 May-June, its annual queer performance arts festival, which appropriately collides with the enduring creative space's 30th birthday. From May 3rd through June 30, 2019, two months of new LGBTQIA work will be presented by Highways' extended family of artists, writers and performers such as solo-theatre legend Tim Miller (a founder and original co-artistic director), eminent artist-activist Michael Kearns, the nation's first out transgender modern dance choreographer Sean Dorsey, and Black Lives Matter Co-founder Patrisse Cullors. Look for specific Dirty 30 anniversary events that bookend the festival (5/3, 5/4 and 6/29). Behold! will also feature such emerging performance artists and curators as Tyler Matthew Oyer, Marval A Rex, Celeste XXX, Moises Josue Michel, Kyoko Takenaka and Shruti Purkayastha. Queer & Art Presents 'I AM SEAGULL' a new play with music is having it's first public workshop performance at acclaimed Celebration Theatre in Hollywood. This all-queer inspired new adaptation takes place in the not-so-distant future after the United States and Russia have joined forces to create a new fascist-communist country; where the government has deemed queer people as 'Unclassified' and sent to death camps. A response to the world's climate, performer/artist Frankie Kraft has adapted the classic play to be told through queer voices. The cast includes 'godfather of LGBTQ theatre' Michael Kearns, Toni Christopher (Ovation Nominee 'Rabbit Hole'), Nathan Mohebbi, Kareem Ferguson, Ryland Shelton, Ashley Diane Currie, Richardson Jones, Arne Gjelten, Kenton Chen, Tristan Scott Behrends, Jessie Jacobson, and Frankie Kraft. Written and Directed by Frankie Kraft. The story is told with original music from Ryland Shelton, Jessie Jacobson and Ivo Dimchev. As well as choreography by Bruno Isakovic and Arne Gjelten. Bloodbound, a new play by Los Angeles theater luminary Michael Kearns, reemerges at the Hollywood Fringe Festival, opening on Thursday, May 31, after a successful premiere engagement at Highways Performance Space. Kearns' provocative play, running for seven performances only, will continue through June 13 with Mark Bringelson directing, and Moon Mile Run, Kirk Frederick, and Benjamin Scuglia producing. Prior to the Highways run, Bloodbound was gained traction in two workshop productions at the Skylight Theatre Company where Kearns is an Artistic Associate.

Highly-acclaimed Los Angeles theatre luminary and legendary artist-activist Michael Kearns will debut his new full-length play Bloodbound at Highways Performance Space, 1651 18th Street in Santa Monica, CA, opening January 19th, 2018. It's been too long since Los Angeles has had a world premiere of a Michael Kearns' creation. On January 13, 2018; Michael will open his latest dramatic composition, BLOODBOUND at Highways Performance Center. Michael has since been keeping busy with his theatrical commitments at Skylight Theatre, QueerWise, Michael Kearns & Other Outies, and Housing Works; while always doing what he does best in his HIV/AIDS activism, and raising his grown-up daughter Katherine.

Actor Gordon Thomson returns to the stage in Michael Kearns' highly-dramatic new play Bloodbound at the Highways Performance Space at 1651 18th St. in Santa Monica, CA opening on January 13th, 2018. The play will run January 13th, 14th, 19th, 26th, 27th and 28th .and on February 2nd, 3rd, 4th, 11th and 23rd, being directed by Mark Bringelson and produced by Leo Garcia and Ryland Shelton for Moon Mile Run.

The Southland Theatre Artists Goodwill Event (S.T.A.G.E.) just presented its 33rd annual gala, 'Idols & Icons,' at the historic Saban Theatre in Beverly Hills. This was the last S.T.A.G.E. show after 33 years. AIDS has not been cured, and the fight continues through APLA Health Services, despite the fact that the show has now taken its final bow in L.A.

Actress Christine Pedi is well known for her theatre/cabaret appearances as well as TV and SiriusXM radio. Her finest hour has come in Forbidden Broadway with her glorious singing impressions. She took time out from her busy schedule to talk about her upcoming appearance in LA for the last S.T.A.G.E. benefit on Saturday May 13 at the Saban Theatre.

Skylight Theatre's Artistic Director Gary Grossman will be honored at Skylight's SALUTE 2016 December 4 at the Colony Theatre in Burbank. Gary has been the driving common denominator of the Skylight Theatre Company and its previous incarnations: the Katselas Theatre company and the Camelot Artists Productions before.
