Vivian Reed Celebrates Lena Horne For Her Centennial At Feinstein's/54 Below

VIVIAN REED, the two-time Tony Award-nominated Broadway star and concert artist called "remarkable and ferocious" by The New York Times and "a force of nature" by The New York Post, will continues her tribute to entertainment icon Lena Horne in a special centennial celebration at Feinstein's / 54 Below. For one more show on Wednesday, March 7, Reed will offer high-energy, fearless renditions of Lena classics such as "Stormy Weather," "The Lady is a Tramp," "A Fine Romance," "I've Grown Accustomed to His Face" and "On A Wonderful Day Like Today." She is accompanied by an all-star quartet featuring Conductor William Foster McDaniel on piano, Calvin Jones on bass, Damon DueWhite on drums and Don Tipton on guitar. Earlier this season, Vivian received the Mabel Mercer Award from the Mabel Mercer Foundation at Jazz at Lincoln Center.

BMI Announces Winter 'Smoker' Event

The BMI Lehman Engel Musical Theatre Workshop will present its winter "Smoker" on Thursday, March 8th 2018 at 5:00 PM EST. The event, held at BMI's headquarters in New York City (7 World Trade Center, 250 Greenwich St. 30th Floor), will showcase new works written and performed by recent members of this Drama League, Drama Desk and Tony® Award-winning workshop.

The Kleban Foundation just presented the 28th Annual Kleban Prize for Musical Theatre. Adjudication in the 2018 Kleban Prize for the most promising musical theatre lyricist category resulted in a tie between Alan Schmuckler and Amanda Yesnowitz, and the 2018 Kleban Prize for the most promising musical theatre librettist has been awarded to Christian Duhamel.

The Kleban Foundation just presented the 28th Annual Kleban Prize for Musical Theatre. Adjudication in the 2018 Kleban Prize for the most promising musical theatre lyricist category resulted in a tie between Alan Schmuckler and Amanda Yesnowitz, and the 2018 Kleban Prize for the most promising musical theatre librettist has been awarded to Christian Duhamel. 

WORKING to Release Original London Cast Recording With New Music By Lin-Manuel Miranda

Ghostlight Records has announced the release of the Original London Cast Recording of Stephen Schwartz's WORKING on Friday, March 2. The album is being released following a hugely successful run at Southwark Playhouse, directed by Luke Sheppard in Summer 2017. This will be the first recording of WORKING since the Original Broadway Cast Recording in 1978 and will feature never before released tracks by Lin-Manuel Miranda. DTC Announces 2018-2019 Season

2017 Regional Theatre Tony Award recipient Dallas Theater Center (DTC) announces titles for the 2018-2019 season, including the heartwarming, southern comedy Steel Magnolias; the critically-acclaimed Broadway play and winner of the 2017 Pulitzer Prize, Sweat; William Shakespeare's delightful comedy, Twelfth Night; the acclaimed comedy, then film, Real Women Have Curves; a world premiere play set in Dallas, Penny Candy; a new play fresh off the New York theater season, The Wolves, and a fascinating play about the relationship between Muhammad Ali and Stepin Fetchit, Fetch Clay, Make Man. Noah Mogaka joins WOMEN OF THE WINGS: A CELEBRATION OF FEMALE MUSICAL THEATRE WRITERS, set for March 2 at Feinstein's/54 Below. Noah is a NYC-based actor, originally from the small town of West Grove, PA. He moved to the city in 2014 to pursue a BFA in Musical Theatre at Pace University and is currently completing his final year in the program. Since beginning his new life in the city, he has had the opportunity to work in a wide variety of musicals, plays, and TV/film projects. He has been fortunate enough to work with the likes of Michael John LaChiusa, Alexandra Silber, Cynthia Erivo, and Graciela Daniele. He is continuously grateful for the life he gets to live and is deeply passionate about art, love, and human connection.

Adjudication in the 2018 Kleban Prize for the most promising musical theatre lyricist category resulted in a tiebetween Alan Schmuckler and Amanda Yesnowitz, andthe 2018 Kleban Prize for the most promising musical theatre librettist has been awarded to Christian Duhamel. The 2018 prizes will be presented on Monday, February 5, 2018, in a private ceremony (by invitation only) hosted by ASCAP and BMI at ASCAP.
