The Apollo Theater in partnership with World Music Institute presents what has become an annual highlight, AFRICA NOW!. The celebrated event returns to the historic Apollo Theater (253 West 125th Street) tonight, March 26, at 8:00 p.m. for its fourth year spotlighting emerging and established artists of today's African music scene. Sahr Ngaujah (actor in Fela!) is the evening's host.

T-Mobile (TMUS) today announced that not one, but TWO, amazing artists will perform at the T-Mobile Arena Opening Celebration Concert in Las Vegas.

The Apollo Theater and Opera Philadelphia announced today that Charlie Parker's YARDBIRD, composed by Daniel Schnyder with a libretto by Bridgette A. Wimberly, will have its New York premiere in a co-production between the two institutions, April 1 and 3, 2016.  The engagement marks the first time opera will be performed on the Apollo Theater stage, and the first time Opera Philadelphia will produce in New York. The opera will also be recorded for broadcast in November 2016 on New York City's classical music station 105.9 WQXR, at wqxr.org, and distributed nationally by the WFMT Radio Network.

The Music Hall's Writers in the Loft series will present the National Book Award-winning author of the bestseller The Good Lord Bird, James McBride with his first nonfiction work since his celebrated memoir The Color of Water. McBride's new book KILL 'EM AND LEAVE: Searching for James Brown and the American Soul is more than a book about James Brown. The Houston Symphony pays homage to late rock legend David Bowie during the Summer Series at Jones Hall opener on June 11 in a program featuring the orchestra along with a full, amplified rock band in celebration of the artist's unforgettable sounds.

Three-time Grammy Award winner, multi-platinum selling singer, songwriter and producer R. Kelly is set to hit the rode for "The Buffet" tour starting Thursday, April 21, 2016. The 40 city tour is promoted by The Commission Presents and will kick off in Cincinnati-running through Chicago, Miami, Dallas, Houston, Atlanta & New Orleans. "The Buffet" tour, set to be one of R. Kelly's most entertaining shows to date, stops at Joe Louis Arena on Friday, April 22 at 8 p.m. following a sold out New Year's Eve performance at the Fox Theatre earlier this year. He'll be accompanied by a live band and backup dancers while performing songs his fans have never seen live.

The New England premiere of Robert O'Hara's BOOTYCANDY at SpeakEasy Stage Company is based on the author's own experiences of growing up black and gay in America. Similar in structure and tone to THE COLORED MUSEUM, it is a series of loosely connected vignettes that rely on humor and satire to confront racial, sexual, and cultural stereotypes. Summer L. Williams directs an outstanding cast of five actors who portray nearly two dozen characters.
