Producer Ken Davenport is pleased to launch a new 11-week post-show talkback series at Broadway's hit new revival of Stephen Schwartz's legendary rock musical GODSPELL. The new 'Tuesday Night Talkbacks' series will commence immediately after the 7 p.m. performance on Tuesday, January 17.

The Broadway at Birdland concert series last night featured the return of Lindsay Mendez & Marco Paguia. Lindsay and Marco draw from an eclectic mix of music, reimagining songs from popular music in the familiar setting of a jazz piano trio and vocalist. Their vast catalogue is comprised of the singers and songwriters that inspire them, including Alexi Murdoch, Alicia Keys, The Beatles, Feist, Fiona Apple, Gladys Knight, Janis Joplin, Jeff Buckley, Joni Mitchell, Lenny Kravitz, Macy Gray, Martin Sexton, Peter Gabriel, Pink Floyd, The Police, Stevie Wonder, and U2. The New Broadway Cast Recording of the revival of GODSPELL is being released digitally today, December 20, 2011 on Ghostlight Records. Produced by Stephen Schwartz, Michael Holland and Kurt Deutsch with Executive Producer Ken Davenport, the CD will be available in stores on Tuesday, January 31, 2012. The 40th Anniversary production and first-ever Broadway revival of Stephen Schwartz's rock musical GODSPELL officially opened at the Circle in the Square Theater on November 7. The cast of the show spent some time in the recording studio last month to work on a new cast album, and according to Amazon.com, it will be released on January 31, 2012. It is currently available for pre-order.

BroadwayWorld has confirmed Twitter reports that the Chigo cast of MILION DOLLAR QUARTET will make an appearance on OWN's 'The Rosie Show' on December 6, and Broadway's GODSPELL will stop by to perform on December 8. Just like Pope Paul VI figured when The Vatican told followers to go ahead and celebrate mass in the vernacular, John-Michael Tebelak figured that if the musical he penned with Stephen Schwartz, based on the Gospel According to St. Matthew, was going to connect with young people, it had to be done in their language.  So when Godspell premiered Off-Broadway forty years ago, the son of God and his disciples were depicted as soft pop and folk singing flower children who were too busy learning how to spread love to be bothered with sex, drugs and burning their draft cards.  Arriving on Broadway after Hair and Jesus Christ Superstar, it was the first major rock musical that didn't scare the hell out of parents.

GODSPELL's Morgan James sprained her ankle during rehearsals for the show and missed both the previews and the opening night of the musical, but returned triumphantly on November 11, 2011 to the show. Here, we have the first pictures of the star in costume, back where she belongs!

Producer Ken Davenport recenty tweeted that a cast album for the show is currently in the works, and BroadwayWorld.com has confirmed that the GODSPELL band was recording today in the studio with composer/lyricist Stephen Schwartz and Sh-k-boom's Kurt Deutsch. No official date has been made available for the label, but official information is expected shortly.
