Bruce Norris Joins Steppenwolf Theatre Company Ensemble

The Steppenwolf Theatre Company Ensemble has announced its newest member, playwright Bruce Norris. Among his many accomplishments, Norris is the author of The Qualms, playing July 3 - August 31 in Steppenwolf's Downstairs Theatre. Since 2000, Steppenwolf has produced seven of Norris's plays, including Clybourne Park and the world premieres of A Parallelogram, The Unmentionables, The Pain and the Itch, We All Went Down to Amsterdam, Purple Heart and The Infidel.

David Finckel & Wu Han to Close Chamber Music Society of Lincoln Center's Series at Harris Theater, 4/29

The Chamber Music Society of Lincoln Center's esteemed Co-Artistic Directors David Finckel (cello) and Wu Han (piano), Musical America's 2012 Musicians of the Year, will perform all five of Beethoven's much-beloved Cello Sonatas on Tuesday, April 29 at 7:30PM, the final Chamber Music Society (CMS) performance of the 2013-2014 Michael Hill series at the Harris Theater.

All-French Program Highlights Chamber Music Society of Lincoln Center's 'French Revelationa' at Harris Theater, March 18

The Chamber Music Society of Lincoln Center (CMS) 2013-2014 Michael Hill series continues at the Harris Theater with French Revelations, Tuesday, March 18 at 7:30PM. Critically acclaimed and award-winning society members Nicholas Canellakis (cello), Bridget Kibbey (harp), Sooyun Kim (flute), Kristin Lee (violin), Anne-Marie McDermott (piano), and Paul Neubauer (viola) perform seminal works of French virtuosos Maurice Ravel, Claude Debussy, Albert Roussel, Jean Francaix, Joseph Jongen, and Marcel Tournier. This diverse, all-French program includes Ravel's Jeux d'eau, a serene work for solo piano that takes inspiration from the cascading sounds of water, as well as two works from Debussy: Sonata for Flute, Viola, and Harp and Sonata for Cello and Piano-known famously as two of the last three pieces the composer completed before his untimely death in 1918.

ON GRACE, Savion Glover and More Set for Harris Theater's 2014 Season

In the midst of its milestone 10th season, the Harris Theater for Music and Dance heads into the new year with can't-miss performances as part of the Harris Theater Presents series, including a special addition to the 2013-2014 season: the Chicago debut of On Grace, a work-in-progress performance on Tuesday, January 21, 2014, from Drama Desk Award-winner Anna Deavere Smith and cellist Joshua Roman.

Blue Note Entertainment Group to Celebrate 1st New York Brass and Heritage Festival, 1/7-12

Blue Note Entertainment Group has announced its first-annual NEW YORK BRASS AND HERITAGE FESTIVAL, a celebration of New Orleans music and culture January 7-12, 2014. King Blues Club & Grill, The Highline Ballroom, Lucille's Bar & Grill, and Drom, bringing a mix of New Orleans jazz-fusion, blues and brass for six nights of unforgettable Southern comfort.

Jaime Laredo to Celebrate 20th New York String Orchestra Anniversary with Concerts at Carnegie Hall, 12/24 & 28

The New York String Orchestra, an ensemble of young players ages 16–23 from around the world, who come together each year for a seminar of rehearsals and performance preparation, celebrates the 20th anniversary of its Music Director Jaime Laredo with two annual concerts in Stern Auditorium / Perelman Stage. In addition, the New York String Orchestra Seminar celebrates its 45th anniversary.

Chamber Music Society of Lincoln Center to Perform Bach Brandenburg Concertos at Harris Theater, 12/18

Entering its third year of residency, The Chamber Music Society of Lincoln Center (CMS) returns to the Harris Theater for the first of three performances in the Michael Hill Series during the Theater's milestone 10th season, beginning with the Bach Brandenburg Concertos on Wednesday, December 18 at 7:30 pm. The Wednesday night engagement marks the first time that CMS will perform the popular Brandenburg Concertos for an audience outside of New York and New Jersey - the start of a new annual holiday tradition at the Harris. The concerti, performed annually in New York to sold-out audiences, have become a staple of CMS' holiday programming.

Chamber Music Society of Lincoln Center & More Set for Harris Theater this Winter

Co-Artistic Directors David Finckel and Wu Han - Musical America's 2012 'Musicians of the Year' - present the Chamber Music Society of Lincoln Center on December 18, 2013, part of the Harris Theater Presents series and one of the highlights of the Theater's November/December performance calendar. Additional performances include the premiere of Generations, the first of a five-year project from Deeply Rooted Dance Theater on November 1, 2013, the premiere of Pipassa - The Seventh Love from Natya Dance Theatre, the return of Alejandro Cerrudo and Hubbard Street Dance Chicago's evening-length One Thousand Pieces, and the Puerto Rican Arts Alliance celebrating the 15th anniversary of its annual Cuatro Festival. Susanna Phillips Returns to Twickenham Fest on 8/31

For her final festival appearances of the summer, Beverly Sills Prize Winner Susanna Phillips returns to her hometown of Huntsville, Alabama, for the fourth season of Twickenham Fest, the chamber music festival that she herself co-founded. This year's festival will showcase the world premiere of Fragments from an Explanation, a new commission from 2013 composer-in-residence Christopher Weiss (Aug 31), bookended by programs of Schubert (Aug 30) and Messiaen (Sep 1). The soprano and her fellow co-founder, bassoonist Matthew McDonald, will be joined by a first-rate roster of guest artists, including violinist Itamar Zorman, cellist Matthew Zalkind, and pianist Roman Rabinovich, respective winners of the Tchaikovsky, Washington, and Rubinstein International Competitions. As the Birmingham News recognized in a five-star review last season, "Twickenham Fest is well on its way to becoming a driving force in classical music in Alabama."
