Back in December 2013, BroadwayWorld chronicled the long battle for thespians at Connecticut's Trumbull High School to produce their production of RENT, which was halted by school administrators when first-year principal Marc Guarino and the school board decided to cancel the Trumbull High Thespian Society's planned production of Jonathan Larson's hit rock opera. The John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts today announced national awardees of the Kennedy Center American College Theater Festival. Individuals from across the United States are recognized for outstanding work from the eight regional festivals that were held January 7 through March 1, 2014. 'The Life and Adventures of Santa Claus,' a new musical based on the book by L. Frank Baum ('The Wizard of Oz') opens at the Downtown Cabaret Theatre in Bridgeport, Connecticut on Saturday, November 15, 2008 and will play through December 28th.
