Court Theatre, under the leadership of Artistic Director Charles Newell and Executive Director Stephen J. Albert, presents the World Premiere of Man in the Ring by Michael Cristofer, directed by Artistic Director Charles Newell. Man in the Ring runs September 15 - October 16, 2016 at Court Theatre, 5535 S. Ellis Avenue in Chicago. The Press Opening is Saturday, September 24 at 8:00 p.m.

The Winthrop Playmakers will present the Tony Award and Pulitzer Prize for Drama winning play, 'The Shadow Box' by Michael Cristofer, April 21 - 24, 2016. As directed by Nicholas Raponi, this powerful production is being performed at Memorial Hall at Winthrop High School, which will be reconfigured to an intimate black box space onstage. The Winthrop Playmakers are also spotlighting three local organizations associated with topics faced by the families in the play: AIDS Action Committee, Survivors by the Sea, and the Winthrop Council on Aging/Senior Center.

On March 8, 2016, The John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts announced that the upcoming 2016-17 season will honor the late President Kennedy's centennial birthday with an array of partnerships and performances inspired by the ideals that inspired John F. Kennedy himself: Courage, Freedom, Justice, Service and Gratitude. Kennedy Center President Deborah Rutter highlighted the responsibility everyone at the Kennedy Center feels to offer a fully inclusive calendar of events that engage the artistic community, the public and society at large in the broad spectrum of the arts.

San Francisco's Opera Parallele and SFJAZZ will present their first collaboration: a new, fully staged production of Champion: An Opera in Jazz by Terence Blanchard, SFJAZZ Resident Artistic Director, with eight performances to be given tonight, February 19, through February 28, 2016 at SFJAZZ Center. Based on the life of African-American, bisexual boxing champion Emile Griffith (1938-2013), the production marks both Opera Parallele's first foray into an operatic jazz idiom and SFJAZZ's first opera. Performances will be given at 7:30 pm Today--Sunday, February 19, 20 and 21; Tuesday and Wednesday, February 23 and 24; Today and Saturday, February 26 and 27; and at 4 pm Sunday, February 28 and tickets are priced $30-$185. The Coachella Valley Repertory Theatre has announced that stage, screen, and television performers Lucie Arnaz and Laurence Luckinbill will be the special guest artists at their February 25th Luminary Luncheon at 12:00 noon. In order to accommodate its growing patronage, this month's Luminary Luncheon will be held at the Annenberg Center for Health Sciences at Eisenhower Medical Center.
