THE $18-BILLION PRIZE, a New Play Based On Shocking True Story, Comes to San Francisco's Phoenix Theatre

A shocking and at times farcical tale of how an environmental lawsuit turned into the world's biggest fraud is revealed in a new play. The world premiere of The $18-Billion Prize, based on the true story of rainforest natives and their New York lawyer "fighting for justice" against one of the world's biggest oil companies, opens May 19 at the Phoenix Theatre, where performances continue through June 3.

PRIME Creates New Theater With Local Youth

Three St. Louis organizations are teaming up to bring the unheard stories of local youth to one of our city's premier stages. Led by Emmy Award-winning filmmaker Daniel Blake Smith, experimental theatre company PRIME and creative writing and tutoring non-profit YourWords STL have united with Marygrove Children's Home, a therapeutic residence for infants to 21-year-olds, to theatrically stage true life stories written by Marygrove residents

BWW Interview: Lawrence Brownlee on CYCLES OF MY BEING, in NY Premiere at Carnegie's Zankel Hall

When tenor Lawrence Brownlee--he of the sweet, cultured tones and ringing high Cs--was first asked to put a recital together by Carnegie Hall, he chose Robert Schumann's “Dichterliebe (A Poet's Love),” the song cycle about rapture, disillusionment and regret as the centerpiece. But in filling out the program, he turned to something very different--a work, in fact, that hadn't been written yet, reflecting his life as a black man in America: “Cycles of My Being” by composer Tyshawn Sorey and poet/lyricist Terrance Hayes.

With Until the Flood brings the return of the much praised and sought after community engagement program - Act II. After each of the 48 performances of Until The Flood a guest responder, representing a broad range of community leaders, will give a five minute response to the show, followed by small group facilitated discussions led by trained members of the Zeidler Center for Public Discussion.
