From 26 July - 12 August 2012, the Criterion Theatre will present Playing The Games, a programme of work which will celebrate both artistic and sporting talent featuring emerging and established actors, comedians, musicians, playwrights and Olympians. Sam Hodges, Producer of the Criterion Theatre, has commissioned two new plays by emerging British playwrights Serge Cartwright and Adam Brace in response to the presence of the Olympic Games in London-After the Party and Taking Part, respectively. Michael Attenborough will direct Jonathan Pryce as William Shakespeare's KING LEAR running at the Almeida Theatre from the 31 August - 3 November 2012.

Sadie Frost returns to the stage for a limited three week run at Soho Theatre of Zoe Lewis's follow up one-woman play TOUCHED…LIKE A VIRGIN; opening for previews tonight, Tuesday 22 May.

As previously announced for STEP 9 (OF 12), joining Blake Harrison in his West End debut as Keith will be Wendy Nottingham, Barry McCarthy and Benjamin Dilloway. The show opens at Trafalgar Studios in a new production directed by Tom Attenborough. The four-week run begins tonight, May 4, 2012 at 7.00pm.

Michael Attenborough, Artistic Director of the Almeida Theatre will be presented with the Award for Excellence In International Theatre at a luncheon held today, 17 April 2012, at the Travellers Club, London. Neville Shulman, Director of the British Centre of the International Theatre Institute, will present Attenborough with the Award.

Designs are by Robert Jones, with lighting by Tim Mitchell and sound by John Leonard. Filumena is sponsored by Pinsent Masons.

Last night, 23 February 2012, host Jan Ravens, performers Daniel Evans, Josie Lawrence, Jenny Jules, Jonathan Pryce, Jenna Russell, Samantha Spiro and Meera Syal, the Young Friends of the Almeida and award-winning theatre company Inspector Sands performed as part of Almeida Up Close, the theatre's 2012 fundraising Gala. Directed by Indhu Rubasingham, Almeida Up Close took place at One Mayfair. The evening of fine dining and cabaret included music by Stephen Sondheim and Amy Winehouse.
