Philippine Development Foundation ('PhilDev') just presented PhilDev Celebrates Broadway: Suites by Sondheim, on Monday night, November 7 at Alice Tully Hall, Lincoln Center in New York City. Headlining the event were Tony Award winners Robert Lopez, who was honored with an Award of Excellence, and international star Lea Salonga. While the city was being pummelled by a historic October snowstorm yesterday, Broadway actor-singers Lea Salonga, MiG Ayesa, J. Elaine Marcos, and members of the Filipino-American community braved the bad weather to get to Carnegie Hall's Weill Recital Hall for The Oustanding Filipino Americans in New York (TOFA-NY) Awards, which recognizes individuals and organizations that have influenced the Filipino-American community in a positive way.

Right on the heels of her Disney Legend citation that had recognized her iconic vocal recordings for two Disney Princesses Mulan from MULAN and Jasmine from ALADDIN, Lea Salonga, born and raised in the Philippines, is set to receive another accolade: the Outstanding Filipino Americans in New York (TOFA-NY)Awards' Heritage Award on Saturday, October 29 at Carnegie Hall's Weill Recital Hall.

Apparently, MiG Ayesa isn't saying goodbye just yet neither to 'Stacee Jaxx' nor to ROCK OF AGES because Atlantis Productions Inc., a prolific theater company based in Manila, Philippines whose recent productions have included the Asian premieres of NEXT TO NORMAL, and IN THE HEIGHTS, has just announced that Ayesa will be reprising his role as 'Stacee Jaxx,' a decadent rock star, when the smash Broadway musical Rock of Ages opens in Manila in June/July next year (venue to be announced).

Producers of the five-time Tony Award nominated hit musical, ROCK OF AGES announced today that Jeremy Woodard will officially take over the role of 'Stacee Jaxx' on Monday, October 3, 2011. Woodard has understudied the role since performances began on Broadway on Tuesday, March 17, 2009. In addition to ROCK OF AGES, Woodard's theatre credits include Glory Days, Hairspray, and Miss Saigon. MiG Ayesa, who has performed the role of 'Stacee Jaxx' since ROCK OF AGES moved to the Helen Hayes Theatre on March 24, 2011, will play his final performance on Sunday, September 25. During the interim week, the role will be covered by an understudy.

The 2011 Broadway Cares/Equity Fights AIDS Flea Market ran on Sunday, September 25th from 10 AM - 7 PM on West 44th Street between Seventh and Eighth Avenues, and, for the first time, extended into Times Square, between 43rd and 44th Streets. Check out Part Two of our Photo Coverage below.

Named one of New York's 'Best Once-a-Year Markets,' the annual Broadway Cares/Equity Fights AIDS Broadway Flea Market & Grand Auction will be held from 10 AM - 7 PM on Sunday, September 25 in Times Square & on West 44th Street. The event is free and open to the public. The Flea Market has long inspired the support of Broadway's most celebrated talent and the first round of this year's line up has just been announced!
