Neighborhood Concerts, Family Days and More Among Carnegie Hall's Fall 2017 Community Programs

Carnegie Hall's community and family programs for September, October and November include Free Neighborhood Concerts, kicking off this fall with classical, American roots, and Argentine music in Manhattan; island swing in Brooklyn; big band and Broadway hits in Queens; and Puerto Rican rhythms in the Bronx. The series, now in its 42nd year, brings established mainstage artists as well as rising stars of jazz, pop, and world music to communities throughout New York City.

Jacob's Pillow Celebrates Opening of Perles Family Studio, 8/18

Jacob's Pillow Dance will celebrate the opening of the Perles Family Studio at an official ribbon cutting ceremony on August 18, 2017. The Pillow's 85th Anniversary Festival Finale, on August 26, will be the first event in the brand new space, which marks the first major on-site construction project at the Pillow since 1992. The $5.5 million building was designed by award-winning Flansburgh Architects of Boston, MA and constructed by Allegrone Companies of Pittsfield, MA. The Perles Family Studio is an integral part of the Pillow's five-year strategic plan, Vision '22, which launches the Pillow as a year-round campus for programs, research, and development with initiatives made possible through a deep commitment to The School at Jacob's Pillow, artist residencies, community engagement, and educational programs.

Bang on a Can to Celebrate Summer at Lincoln Center Festival, MASS MoCA and More

Bang on a Can celebrates summer 2017, and continues its 30th anniversary landmark season, by showcasing the breadth of its adventurous curatorial vision with concerts June-September at three visual art institutions -The Noguchi Museum and the Jewish Museum in New York City, and the Bang on a Can Summer Music Festival at MASS MoCA in North Adams, MA - plus a performance by the Bang on a Can All-Stars at the Lincoln Center Festival.

Palmer, singer extraordinaire Julie Budd, Encompass New Opera Theatre artistic director Nancy Rhodes, Broadway and film director Michael Pressman, historian Louise Hirschfeld, and legendary portrait painter Everett Raymond Kinstler for an exciting panel discussion about creativity in film, theater, music and art at Barnes & Noble-Union Square, 33 East 17th Street, NYC.

Young People's Chorus of New York City Makes Mostly Mozart Debut, 7/25 & 26

Marking the first time a children's chorus has opened the Mostly Mozart Festival in its 51-year history, the Young People's Chorus of New York City (YPC) and its Founder and Artistic Director Francisco J. Nuñez, make their Mostly Mozart debuts in 'The Singing Heart' at David Geffen Hall on Tuesday, July 25 at 8:00 pm and Wednesday, July 26 at 7:30 pm.

Announcing Lincoln Center's White Light Festival 2017

Ehrenkranz Artistic Director Jane Moss today announced Lincoln Center's 2017 White Light Festival, which runs from October 18 through November 15. With more than 35 events presented in 13 venues throughout the city, including U.S. and New York premieres and nine commissions, the eighth annual international festival will explore transcendence, interior illumination, and faith in the human spirit, as exhibited through artistic expression across continents and centuries. The multidisciplinary festival takes its name from a quotation by Estonian composer Arvo Part: "Icouldcomparemymusic to white light, which contains all colors. Only a prism can divide the colors and make them appear; this prism could be the spirit of the listener."

SOUND IS DIVINE Comes to The Rubin Museum 6/23

Symphony Space to Host Two Concerts Benefitting ACLU

Table Pounding Music is proud to present two benefit concerts for the American Civil Liberties Union, produced by Grammy-nominated clarinetist David Krakauer, pianist-composer Kathleen Tagg and Table Pounding Music on Saturday, April 15th at 7:30pm and Sunday, September 24th at 6pm. This all-star group of virtuosic, boundary-pushing New York City musicians share two common attributes: a quest for pushing outside the box in their respective genres, exploring what it means to be a musician from multiple different angles; and a desire to use their artistic voices to raise funds for the protection of civil liberties. One hundred percent of the artist fees will be donated to the ACLU. The concerts will take place at Symphony Space. Please see the lineup and further details below. A selection of tracks will be available to download for purchase and these revenues will also benefit the ACLU.
