Melodia Women's Choir Of NYC Presents The Harmony Of Morning, A 15th Anniversary Concert

Melodia Women's Choir, New York's premier ensemble for women's choral music led by artistic director Cynthia Powell, closes out its 15th anniversary season with an all-American program THE HARMONY OF MORNING, titled from the rarely heard Elliott Carter composition by the same name for women's chorus and chamber orchestra.

Wild Up Debuts At The Wallis With Future Folk 'Musical Happening'

wild Up, under the direction of conductor Christopher Rountree, is an adventurous Los Angeles-based chamber orchestra committed to creating visceral, thought-provoking musical happenings. For its debut at The Wallis, wild Up: Future Folk explores music from ancient India, modern California, post-war New York, as well as American works rooted in folk ethos. wild Up: Future Folk takes place Saturday, March 17, 2018 at 7:30pm in the Bram Goldsmith Theater at The Wallis. Classical KUSC's Brian Lauritzen will talk to wild Up's Chris Rountree on the Bram Goldsmith Theater stage starting at 6:30pm.

The Segal Center Announces Spring 2018 Season

The Martin E. Segal Theatre Center, located at The Graduate Center, City University of New York, announces its Spring 2018 season of public programs. The season features free public programs throughout the fall and winter, with contemporary theatre and performing artists from around the world.

'Nick Mauss: Transmissions' To Open At The Whitney

For his first solo museum show in the United States, artist Nick Mauss (b. 1980) will present Transmissions, an exhibition conceived for the Whitney, which explores the reciprocal relationship of modernist ballet and the avant-garde in New York from the 1930s through '50s. The exhibition-which features daily dance performances in the Whitney's eighth-floor Hurst Family Galleries-goes on view March 16.

NJSO Presents Mozart's Requiem

The New Jersey Symphony Orchestra and Music Director Xian Zhang present Mozart's Requiem, March 15-18 in Newark, Princeton and Morristown. A trio of vocal pieces, including a pair of a cappella works performed by the Montclair State University Singers, open the program.

Lunar New Year Concert To Include U.S. Premiere By Andy Akiho

The New York Philharmonic announces program updates for its Lunar New Year Concert and Gala, led by Long Yu, on Tuesday, February 20, 2018, at 7:30 p.m. The program will feature Andy Akiho's Ricochet, Concerto for Ping Pong, Violin, Percussion, and Orchestra, featuring Philharmonic violinist Elizabeth Zeltser (in her Philharmonic solo debut), ping pong players Ariel Hsing and Michael Landers (Philharmonic debuts), and percussionist David Cossin (Philharmonic debut). As previously announced, the program will also include Li Huanzhi's Spring Festival Overture and Beethoven's Choral Fantasy, with pianist Serena Wang, the Farmers' Chorus of the Yunnan Province, soprano Vanessa Vasquez, tenors Chad Johnson and Issachah Savage, and bass Alex Rosen, all in their Philharmonic debuts (the additional soprano and mezzo-soprano will be announced at a later date).

Go BEYOND with Ned Rothenberg & The Living Earth Show with Paul Dresher Electro-Acoustic Band, Today

On January 26 & 27 the Paul Dresher Electro-Acoustic Band premieres Ned Rothenberg's improvised concerto Beyond C, an Ensemble commission inspired by Terry Riley's In C. Beyond C features Rothenberg as improvising woodwind soloist and Joel Davel as conductor. For this evening concert entitled BEYOND The Living Earth Show will premier selections from Dennis Aman's 24 Preludes & Fugues for invented instruments (created during Aman's 2016 Dresher Ensemble Artists Residency).

La MaMa To Present World Premiere Of THE PILL, A New Family Memoir Play Conceived By Marla Mase

La MaMa (Mia Yoo, Artistic Director), the multiple Obie, Drama Desk and Bessie Award-winning Off-Broadway theater, announces the world premiere of The Pill, conceived by Marla Mase and written by The Family.
