LES MISERABLES, ONCE, ALADDIN & More Set for Mirvish's 50th Season

Mirvish Productions is celebrating fifty years of producing in Toronto with their largest and most ambitious subscription seasons to date, starting with the return of the smash-hit LES MISERABLES with hometown boy Ramin Karimloo in the lead role of Jean Valjean. Toronto will also see the World Premiere of ALADDIN, the Tony Award Winning musical ONCE, the World Premiere of Sergio Trujillo's ARRABAL, the North American Premiere of HEARTBEAT OF HOME, critical favourite METAMORPHOSIS and the North American Premiere of THE LAST CONFESSION. They have also announced four exciting bonus shows and their sophomore Off-Mirvish season. According to the Toronto Star, LES MISERABLES will soon be heading back to Toronto in the 2013-2014 Mirvish season. Aiming for a September 2013 opening, the show will reportedly feature West End star Ramin Karimloo as 'Jean Valjean'- a role that he previously played on the London stage.

Tonight, July 9 at 9:30 pm, the Metropolitan Room will present "Marcus Nance and Friends" - an elegant evening of jazz, cabaret, theatre and opera of the finest kind. As a fan of both the classy era of Johnny Hartman and Sarah Vaughan and the impressive showmanship of the opera and theatre worlds, Marcus Nance celebrates these traditions together in this regular series of cabarets featuring New York's finest singers and musicians. Marcus Nance's guests will include Roosevelt Andre Credit from The Gershwin's Porgy and Bess, Miss Fresno County Valerie Salcedo, Canadian Idol winner Melissa O'Neil, and Katrina Reynolds and Julius Sermonia from Broadway's Jesus Christ Superstar. Also featured will be pianists Rick Fox and Doug Martin and bassist Jonas Tauber.

Josh Young, who is starring as 'Judas' in Broadway's JESUS CHRIST SUPERSTAR after originating the role in both the Startford and La Jolla productions of the show, returned to the production on Friday evening, April 13th after successfully battling laryngitis. Audience members there for his return tell us that Young returned to the show feeling healthy and sounding great.

Laryngitis Sidelines Josh Young from JESUS CHRIST SUPERSTAR Indefinitely; Return Expected Upon Recovery

Josh Young, who is starring as 'Judas' in Broadway's JESUS CHRIST SUPERSTAR after originating the role in both the Startford and La Jolla productions of the show, will be sidelined from the production again, this time for an undetermined period of time, as a bacteria infection which has caused him to miss several performances has worsened into laryngitis. Young, who has received rave reviews across the board for his performance, missed his first shows during previews just prior to opening night on March, 22. While he was back for the opening, he has been in and out of the show since March 29. His role has been played by Jeremy Kushnier and Nick Cartell in his absence.
