The Shakespeare Theatre of New Jersey kicks off its 55th season with The Merchant of Venice, not seen at The Shakespeare Theatre since 2000. Acclaimed company member Robert Cuccioli returns to direct. Performances begin on May 17 at the F.M. Kirby Shakespeare Theatre located at 36 Madison Avenue, Madison, NJ. As part of a very impressive sixty-forth summer season, Where the Mountain Meets the Moon makes its Cape Cod premiere with Harwich Junior Theater's current production…and what a clever idea it was to bring such a heartwarming story to its stage! Written by Grace Lin, adapted by Jeannine Coulombe and directed by the magnificent Jane Staab (an HJT alumna herself), the one word that came to mind when thinking of how Where the Mountain Meets the Moon can be described is "majestic." Telling the story of a young girl who embarks on a quest to find the mystical, omniscient being who can reveal to her the secret of wealth, this Newbery-honored novel is transformed into something Staab has made beautiful to behold on stage.

Continuing 82 years of continuous Community Theater, the Bergen County Players (BCP) presents Neil Simon's comedy, 45 Seconds from Broadway. Directed by Iris Weinhouse, 45 Seconds from Broadway will be performed at the Little Firehouse Theatre in Oradell from October 25th - November 15th, 2014. Shows will be on Fridays and Saturdays at 8pm (with the exception of October 31st) and Sundays at 2pm. 'Captain Mike' is an original comedy about the fine art of irresponsibility and its unintended consequences. Mike is owner/captain of a small charter boat on Manhattan's Upper West Side. Growing up is not part of the plan for Mike: his best friend Dr. Lenny is a street musician on the docks, and Lenny, Mike and his ex-wife Eve are oblivious to the danger signs of their daughter's erratic behavior. A seemingly minor incident at the docks triggers a series of events that tests these relationships--and Mike's commitment to willful ignorance.
