The Downtown Urban Theater Festival (DUTF) returned for its 8th Annual season at the Theater for the New City in East Village and featured 12 theatrical works written by Lawrence Dial (Promise Tomorrow Today), William Fowkes (Museum Piece), Dina Laura (Making Moves), Michele Cuomo and Ian Gonzalez Phillips (Piñero Resurrected), James Earl Hardy (Confessions of a Homo Thug Porn Star), Kash Goins (VII Deadly Sins), Riccardo Costa (The Choice), Mel Nieves (After-Loss), Lina Sarrello ( Waiting for the D), Imran Javaid (Glass), Cesi Davidson (Chakalaka) and Stacy Osei-Kuffour (Breathless).

On, Wednesday, April 21, 2010, the Downtown Urban Theater Festival (DUTF) returns for an 8th season, presenting 12 new theatrical works, for the first time at the historic Theater For The New City in East Village, Manhattan. A highlight of the festival will be a theatrical preview of Lessons on the A Train, a new off-Broadway musical under development by DUTF and directed by Reg E. Gaines, the Tony and Grammy-nominated writer of Bring in da Noise Bring in da Funk.

The Downtown Urban Theater Festival (DUTF) will provide 13 emerging playwrights, from coast to coast, with the opportunity to showcase their work at the HERE Arts Center, May 6 thru 16. This year DUTF will celebrate its 7th Season with twelve new works by playwrights from across the U.S.

Ethan Hawke joins the previously announced roster of performers that includes LAB members Eric Bogosian, Elizabeth Canavan, Max Casella, John Doman, Kevin Geer, Didi O'Connell, John Ortiz, Portia, Elizabeth Rodriguez, Daphne Rubin-Vega, Michael Stuhlbarg, Yul Vazquez, and David Zayas, among others.
