THEATERSPEAK will present an installation of more than 70 award-winning and emerging playwrights writing new plays in the storefront window of the Drama Book Shop during store hours, August 13th - September 1st, In each two-hour time slot, a different playwright will write their play on a laptop, while the screen shot of their computer is visible to the street, opening their process up to the passerby on the street. APPLE CORE THEATER COMPANY (ACTC) presents its world premiere production of a new satire by Israeli-American playwright, Ken Kaissar: A MODEST SUGGESTION. Directed by Walter J. Hoffman, A MODEST SUGGESTION plays a limited engagement at the Studio Theatre at Theatre Row (410 West 42nd Street, between 9th/10th). Performances begin tonight, May 10 and continue through Sunday, May 27. Opening Night is Tuesday, May 15 (7 p.m.).

Downtown Urban Theater Festival (DUTF) opened on Wednesday, March 14, at HERE Mainstage with an exciting night of theatre featuring DEATH BOOGIE, written by Darian Dauchan. This Hip Hop poetry musical featured the poetic artistry of Dauchan and followed the fictional story of Victor Spartan, a blue collar worker who lives a comatose lifestyle by day and at night, hears the poetic sounds of revolution. It was directed by Jennifer McGrath with music accompaniment by The Mighty Third Rail and illustrations by David Ayllon.
