Five Hawaiian Music Groups Move on in Kani Ka Pila Talent Search

Who will be the next Kani Ka Pila Grille Talent Search star? The answer to that question will be answered in less than a month when the five finalists take the stage on Saturday, August 17, at the Made in Hawaii Festival. And who are the finalists? Congratulations to Erni Kainoa & the Nahenahe Serenaders, `Ili Moa, Kaiholu, Coyne Street, and Na Pali Trio for making it to the final round.

Hungarian State Folk Ensemble to Play Kimmel Center's Verizon Hall, 11/3

The Hungarian State Folk Ensemble, regarded as one of the greatest folkloric dance ensembles in the world, makes their debut at the Kimmel Center on Sunday, November 3 at 3 p.m.in Verizon Hall. Their Philadelphia performance of Hungarian Rhapsody, Gypsy Romance highlights a rich and colorful repertoire of choreographies representative of authentic dances, some collected in isolated villages with dance elements dating back hundreds of years. The Folk Orchestra and the world-famous Gipsy Orchestra perform on stage folk music which inspired Hungarian and international classical composers such as Liszt, Brahms, Kodaly and Bartok.

Milwaukee Rep Announces Casting for I LEFT MY HEART, VENUS IN FUR, FOREVER PLAID and NOISES OFF

Milwaukee Repertory Theater announced casting today for I Left My Heart: A Salute to the Music of Tony Bennett, the first production to open The Rep's 60th Anniversary 2013/14 Season, Venus in Fur, coming to the Stiemke Studio in late September, Forever Plaid, opening at the end of October in the Stackner Cabaret and Noises Off, the second production in the Quadracci Powerhouse this season.

Jody Oberfelder Dance Projects' 4CHAMBERS Ends 7/21 on Governors Island; Resumes in Brooklyn Jan 2014

Jody Oberfelder Dance Projects invites audiences to experience their hearts from the inside out with the world premiere of 4CHAMBERS. Created, directed and choreographed by Jody Oberfelder, this immersive blend of dance, theater, film and visual installation runs through July 21 at Officers House 15 on Governors Island. In January 2014, the production will transfer to Brooklyn's Arts@Renaissance where it will run for 8 weeks.

This year's 65th Primetime Emmy Awards airs live on CBS on Sunday, September 22, 2013 at 8PM, ET.

Chamber Orchestra of Philadelphia's Dirk Brosse to be Knighted in Belgium, 9/21

On July 21, 2013, Belgium will award Chamber Orchestra Music Director Dirk Brosse the honor of Knight in the Order of the Crown, thereby bestowing him the noble title of 'Sir'. Maestro Brosse will be among the very few elevated to nobility by King Albert II, who will resign that same day, in favor of his son, Philippe, who will then be crowned King Philippe I. The ceremony will take place in Brussels, Belgium.

Stafford Arima to Lead Broadway Dreams CIRCLE OF DREAMS at the Kimmel Center, 8/5-10

The Broadway Dreams Foundation (BDF), in partnership with The Kimmel Center for the Performing Arts, will present CIRCLE OF DREAMS, a unique Broadway concert open to the public, at the Kimmel Center's Perelman Theater (300 South Broadway Street) on Saturday, August 10 at 3 and 8 p.m. This culmination of a week-long Summer Performing Arts Intensive will be directed by acclaimed New York City director, Stafford Arima (bare, Allegiance) and will feature veteran Broadway performers alongside a talented roster of Philadelphia area BDF students.

Eddie Bruce & Friends to Play SugarHouse Casino Each Thursday this Month

July is bursting with musical magic when Eddie Bruce & Friends illuminate the waterfront on Thursdays in Philadelphia at SugarHouse Casino. The shows begin at 8 p.m. and run through 11 p.m. except on the July 4th holiday when it will be 5:30 to 8:30 p.m. On that date Eddie is joined by vocalist Michael Richard Kelly, on July 11th Eddie calls singer Paula Johns to the stage, then on July 18th Charlene Holloway joins the juncture, followed by Eddie fusing with Edgardo Cintron on July 25th. Eddie Bruce & Friends can be seen every Thursday in The Refinery restaurant and bar at SugarHouse. SugarHouse is located at 1001 N Delaware Ave, Philadelphia, PA 19125 with free parking.
