The Kitchen welcomes back Neal Medlyn for the world premiere of King, the seventh and final work in his series of performance pieces built around pop stars. With King, Medlyn turns his attention to the pop star par excellence: Michael Jackson. King will contain radical reinterpretations of famous Michael Jackson songs, outside text (from Maxim Gorky's My Childhood, among other sources), some of Medlyn's personal biography and various elements of show business.

Tori Amos and Samuel Adamson's musical The Light Princess will premiere in October, and there will be a new adaptation of Emil and the Detectives for family audiences at Christmas.
The City of Arvada has announced the hiring of Philip C. Sneed as the Arvada Center for the Arts and Humanities new Executive Director. The announcement concludes a seven month national search to fill the Center's top position. Sneed who currently serves as the Producing Artistic Director of the Colorado Shakespeare Festival will assume his duties beginning February 4, 2013.

Guest artists for this performance include Joanna Yu as Costume Designer and Ryerson alum Kevin Fraser as Lighting Designer. The show will run October 26, 27, 29, 30, 31, Nov 1 and 2 at 8 p.m.

David Gonski, Chairman of Sydney Theatre Company, today announced that Andrew Upton has been appointed Artistic Director of Sydney Theatre Company commencing 1 January 2013. For the past five years, Andrew Upton has been Co Artistic Director of the Company with Cate Blanchett. The duo's final program - for 2013 - will be announced on 6 September this year.

Joyseekers Theatre brings Russian playwright Maxim Gorky's classic play, The Lower Depths, to a contemporary American audience in a brand new adaptation by Australian playwright Tim Redmond, running March 23 - April 7 at the Connelly Theatre, NYC. Set against the backdrop of 1930's depression-era New York, Redmond draws parallels between pre-revolution Russia and a country quickly losing its grasp on the American Dream.
