The 2011 Garland Award recipients were announced today, honoring the best of Los Angeles theatre. Under the voting system each Garland winner was named on at least three critics' 'Best of 2010' lists. Each critic listed up to five nominees for each category except performance, up to 10 nominees for performance in musical productions and 10 for straight plays. Here are the critics' lists, minus the winners. The critics who voted are Jeff Favre, Hoyt Hilsman, Travis Holder, Eric Marchese, Dany Margolies, Dink O'Neal, Melinda Schupmann, Madeleine Shaner, Les Spindle, Neal Weaver, and Jennie Webb. Back Stage thanks them, as we hope you will when you see them this year, for their perpetual devotion to Southland theater large and small.

At the heart of the sixth season from Artistic Director Jonathan Church and Executive Director Alan Finch will be 'a Festival within a Festival' celebrating the achievements of playwright Terence Rattigan in the centenary year of his birth.

From December 1, 2010, through January 17, 2011, JerseyArts.com invited the public to vote for their favorite nonprofit arts groups in its third annual People's Choice Awards. The categories ranged from theater and performing arts centers, to museums and galleries, to symphonies and dance companies (along with many more -- there were 15 in all). Many organizations rallied their audiences to vote, and more than 6,200 people cast their ballot in this year's contest and remarkably, nearly one-third of all votes cast were for Paper Mill Playhouse. The winners were announced today online at JerseyArts.com and via email to all the voters. Recipients will formally receive their awards in a ceremony at The Governor's Conference on Tourism, held March 23-25, 2011 in Atlantic City, NJ.

The Los Angeles Drama Critics Circle has announced its nominations and special awards for excellence in Los Angeles and Orange County theatre for the year 2010 (Dec. 1, 2009 - Nov. 30, 2010).

The votes have all been counted and audited and we're VERY excited to announce the results of the first ever BroadwayWorld.com Philadelphia Awards! Syfy unveils an impressive roster of guest stars set to make appearances throughout the second season of the drama-adventure series, Stargate Universe, including Victor Garber, David Hewlett, Robert Picardo, Kathleen Quinlan and French Stewart, along with the previously announced guest appearances by Robert Knepper and Julie McNiven, who will both appear in multi-episode arcs. The second season of Stargate Universe debuts Tuesday, September 28 at 9PM (ET/PT) on Syfy.
